Food City might go out of business, but there is no possible way Middlesboro will get a Target. Face it people, Middlesboro is a dried up coal town, never gonna have anything more than what it has now. Just gonna get worse!!!

"Hotters"???? What in the hell is a "Hotters"???? I think you mean H-O-O-T-E-R-S and here's a thought...if you can't spell or pronounce the name of it, you shouldn't advocate for it.

Sadly, you are right. We are a washed up, has been city in a crater. I love our city and it will always be home to me, but facts are facts. My family will have to leave Middlesboro to find sufficient employment, and I know we're not the only ones. We could have so much more here if the "powers that be" would relax their choke hold on this town and let us progress. Maybe they think that starving us out will allow the wealthy families here to have Middlesboro all to themselves, I don't know. What I do know is that we are headed for ghost town status very soon if things don't change.

It burns my butt to see the potential for this area and the apathy of people sitting around complaining, doing nothing about it.

We can begin, next election, vote! Also circulate petitions as to what you would like to see here and present it to city council and/or mail them to CEOs of those businesses. The more people = more pressure.

Certainly you are not suggesting that I am an inactive complainer. You do not know me or what I may or may not be doing to help this town! Please, feel free to circulate as many petitions as you wish...you will be treated with the same disregard and disrespect as those who have petitioned before you. Why don't you present your ideas to the city council and see how far you get. Also, just for the record, I DO vote! I voted against Ben Hickman in the last mayoral election, but too many people in this town refuse to do the same. If we could get him out of that office and get someone new, with new and progressive ideas in there, families like mine wouldn't have to leave in order to find work.

They need to close it down they let any thing work there don't want to keep the good workers they want the trouble makers and lyers there and get rid of the good workers. And they are to high on their prices. And they said family isn't allowed to work there but they have brothers and sisters working there and they have a aunt that works there. And I know someone that tried to get a job and couldn't they said they couldn't hire him because he had a brother that worked there so they have dirty people there.

The lot where food city sits, is alos shared by Dairy Queen that WILL be getting re-built. So I agree, there is no way that a Target will be coming in there. However, there may be a target coming in near the new "Tractor Supply" store. Which is the first step towards more and bigger businesses to come. It takes time, be patient. They are coming.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Taurus

The current planetary influences tend to make everyone groan a bit. Life is not perfect and may be less pleasant than usual, but what can you do? Get real for one thing! That's the way it is and once you accept this, everything becomes much easier to handle. Be solid and dutiful - qualities for which the Bull is renowned - and you'll come out the other side with your halo polished. Focus on some undeveloped potential in your life and take the first steps towards realising it.
