Tommy Lowe: Give Brandon Spikes a break

I completely agree…
Ok... Punching, kicking, scratching, spiting, and eye gouging is definitely a disturbing part football... But it happens... a lot more then people think - in almost every pile. Emotions run high as these guy go battle each other play after play. Don't get me wrong, if you get caught you should be punished. Remember this was not a penalty so really no disciplinary action was required. A apology was sufficient - yet Meyers consulted the SEC and the Florida athletic director before suspending Spikes for a half of game. And Spikes, in taking complete responsibility for his actions, has asked for an even more severe punishment. This shows great character and class. Spikes you seem to be a very stand up guy. When you’re on top, hatters will always try to bring you down. This is a situation were anything you do will never be the right thing .Let’s put this to bed and move forward. Go Gators.
