What an odd season it has been for Byron Hout. Everybody knows how it started right after the win over Oregon in September.

Brian Murphy's column in the Statesman Saturday did what it was designed to do. It got some people riled up by saying Boise is not a "football town." The points were well-taken. If Boise is a football town, the San Jose State game should have sold out.

Conference officials picked Bronco cornerback Kyle Wilson as the top defensive player and Idaho kick return specialist Justin Veltung as the top special teams player.

Urban Meyer just took, "Stand by your man," a little too far. Florida coach Urban Meyer's apparent policy on eye-gouging is now clear.

Boise State's defense is back to being a bunch of pickpockets. The Broncos have forced eight turnovers in the last two games, and most of those have helped the offense score points in bunches and put opponents away by halftime.

BOISE STATE: The Broncos started out slow in their home meeting with San Jose State on Saturday afternoon, but the squad then scored 31 points over the course of the second and third quarters as they cruised to the 45-7 win.

Boise State is back home - at last. It's been nearly a month since the No. 6 Broncos last played on their trademark blue turf in front of their adoring blue-and-orange clad fans.

Right now, Oregon just may be the best team in the nation. But the Ducks still face a dangerous stretch ahead.
