In the spring, with a first-year starting quarterback and a slew of inexperienced wide receivers, Purdue had trouble completing passes against air.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Joey Elliott threw a career-high four touchdown passes to help Purdue beat Indiana 38-21 on Saturday and retain the Old Oaken Bucket.

Once again there is no postseason for Purdue or Indiana, making today's battle for the Old Oaken Bucket a de facto bowl game.

Looks like it's time for another eye-for-an-eye Oaken Bucket adventure. Indiana and Purdue are back at it for football bragging rights, and if the postseason is a next-season goal, blast away the disappointment by knocking somebody into tomorrow.

As special as Purdue's wins against Ohio State and Michigan were, the Boilermakers' year could have been much more impressive.

It's time for Purdue to stop messing around, win its last two games, become bowl eligible and hope to spend the holiday season far from home.
