Lamont Jones, who finished third in the nation in scoring at 22.6 points per game, has won the Haggerty Award as the top player in the New York Metropolitan Area, the second straight year a player from Iona won the honor.

One day after Santa Cruz Warriors guard Scott Machado was called up by the Golden State Warriors, the NBA club assigned him back to the D-League. Machado, a 6-foot-2, 206-pound guard out of Iona College, was in uniform Sunday evening during Golden State's 97-90 loss to the visiting Utah Jazz after receiving a call-up earlier in the day.

Guard Scott Machado helped the Santa Cruz Warriors in their playoff push toward reaching the D-League postseason.

From 2009-2012, Machado starred at Iona College where he led the nation with 327 assists his final year, and was named the MAAC Player of the Year .
