Maryland, Vasquez make it work
From despondent to frustrated to his unique version of normal, Maryland senior guard Greivis Vasquez spanned quite a range of emotions over the past week. On Saturday, during a game in which the Terrapins returned to full strength, Vasquez returned to the form -- and the personality -- that made him a star in College Park over the past three seasons.
Led by Vasquez, who was more outwardly emotional than he'd been during any other game this season, Maryland held off Eastern Kentucky, 83-72, at Comcast Center in its final game before a 10-day break for finals.

Terps get in gear, pull away from Indiana
Maryland coach Gary Williams didn't call Tuesday night's game here at Assembly Hall a must-win for the Terrapins so early in the season, but he certainly didn't want to look back on the Big Ten/ACC Challenge meeting with the Hoosiers the same way he did on last week's trip to Hawaii.

Team meeting puts Terrapins on course
Four days removed from a performance in Hawaii that bruised the record and ego of the Maryland men's basketball team, the Terrapins called a team meeting to discuss all that went wrong and all that must change moving forward.
Senior forward Landon Milbourne said the players met Sunday to discuss the team's attitude, as well as the intensity with which the Terrapins operated on both ends of the court en route to a 1-2 showing in the Maui Invitational.
The verdict: Both components need to dramatically improve, sooner rather than later.

The circumstances surrounding Landon Milbourne's childhood dictated he learn how to cut hair. He grew up on the Eastern Shore where, as he said, 'there wasn't much around as far as a big city and a lot of people,' and his mother owned a hair salon. It took Milbourne time to realize he could perform the craft, but these days he serves as the resident barber of the Maryland men's basketball team.
In fact, nearly every member of the front court Milbourne leads gets his hair cut by the senior forward who always has found sustenance in his ability to adapt to his surroundings. When Maryland squares off against Chaminade on Monday in the first round of the Maui Invitational, Milbourne will jump for the tip and spend most of the game executing a role that would have seemed unimaginable to him three years earlier.
Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams said yesterday that backup forward Dino Gregory will rejoin the team for the Dec.

Expectations high for Terps men this season
In retrospect, it felt like the Maryland Terrapins played two seasons in 2008-09. There was the one in which coach Gary Williams ' recruiting was questioned by fans and the media at a time when missing the NCAA men's basketball tournament seemed a distinct possibility.
