The epic war film "All Quiet on the Western Front" will be shown at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Paramount Theatre, 213 N. Schuyler Ave. in Kankakee. The 1930 film is part of the Bradley Library's One Book/One Read program.

Rhett and Scarlett return to theaters in September

Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events are joining forces to bring "Gone with the Wind" back to select theaters around the country in celebration of the iconic film's 75th anniversary. The Civil War romance starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable will be shown in participating theaters on Sunday, September 28, 2014, and on Wednesday, October 1. The special screenings will include an introduction by TCM host Robert Osborne .

VPAT sets four-concert slate

The Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre has a new manager and has announced a new, four-concert slate of shows for its so-called "season of shows." In a press release, manager Rachel Morgan said the lineup starts Nov. 7 with Starship, starring vocalist Mickey Thomas, followed by Art Garfunkel on Nov. 16, Gentleman's Rule on March 26, and Jim Brickman on May 9. Gifted with a high but soulful tenor, Thomas first made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the Elvin Bishop Band hit "Fooled Around and Fell in Love."
