A section of cliff threatening to collapse above the Aberdeenshire village of Pennan is set to be removed.

A village made famous by hit movie Local Hero was closed yesterday amid fears of a landslip after a crack appeared in a cliff.

Engineers were assessing a large crack on a cliff face above a coastal village as residents prepared for a possible evacuation.
