George Clooney is nominated for two Oscars this year - for his lead role in The Descendants and for co-writing the adapted screenplay for The Ides Of March , which he also directed.

The program is based on the series originated in 1953 by Edward R. Murrow. Mr. Clooney received Oscar nominations for best director and best original screenplay for "Good Night, and Good Luck," his 2005 film about Murrow.
