WGA names best original, adapted screenplay winners
Woody Allen's screenplay for "Midnight in Paris" has won the Writers Guild of America award for original screenplay.

Allen, who won Academy Awards for penning "Annie Hall" and "Hannah and Her Sisters," is nominated for the WGA award for "Midnight in Paris," starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams, while Cody - winner of an Oscar for "Juno" - is nominated by the guild for "Young Adult," which stars Charlize Theron.
When word first leaked that Robert B. Weide was working on an extended documentary portrait of Woody Allen, those familiar with his work couldn't help but grin and all but rub their hands in anticipation.
Bwetween 1969's Take the Money and Run and the forthcoming Nero Fiddled, Woody Allen has averaged a film a year, a remarkable achievement for a filmmaker, rivaled only by Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorcese, and Clint Eastwood.

Woody Allen earned his 20th nomination Thursday morning from the Writers Guild of America for the WGA Award for best original screenplay for "Midnight in Paris."
