Yes, you're looking at a BMW S1000RR. The asymmetrical bodywork has gone, along with the oddball headlights and spindly mirrors.
Unless you're familiar with motorcycles from decades ago, it can be difficult to appreciate just how close to perfect modern bikes really are. My experience with bikes from the 1950s and '60s-particularly with British bikes from that era-has given me a real appreciation for how great motorcycles are today.
Concluding its annual Motorrad Days Japan, BMW recently unveiled a unique collection of customized takes on its Motorrad R nineT - a contemporary nod to 1923's R 32 and a design that celebrates nine decades of motorcycle manufacturing from the German automotive giant. Completed in less than 200 days, the project saw the likes of Brat Style 's Go Takamine, Kaichiroh Kurosu of Cherry's Company , Shiro Nakajima of 46 Works , and Hideya Togashi of HIDE Motorcycle each customize their own take on BMW's celebratory Motorrad.
The sign of a truly skilled custom motorcycle builder is the ability to create something beautiful from inauspicious beginnings. I'm not saying that the shaft-drive Yamaha XJ650 is a sow's ear, but it's certainly not in the same aesthetic league as a Moto Guzzi Le Mans or BMW R100, say.

Continental's new TKC 70 radial tires are a good choice for adventure and dual-sport riders who spend most of their time on-road but still need dependable traction in the dirt. If there's a staple tire among the street-legal knobbies out there for dual-sport and adventure-touring bikes, it's probably the Continental TKC 80. This square-knobbed stalwart is popular because it's fairly quiet, reasonably sticky on dry tarmac and safe in the rain, yet digs its big, widely spaced knobs into dirt, gravel and mud as tenaciously as many off-road-only tires.
BMW's R nineT is the best looking bike in the BMW catalog, and a fine thing to ride as well BMW's R nineT is a refreshing bit of reminiscence from a brand in transition. It resonates with BMW designs of decades past, with a retro-cool roadster design and a big fat 1200cc boxer engine, even as the company establishes itself as a force in the razor sharp end of the superbike and super-naked field.
Sales for the first eight months of the year are also higher than in any previous year with a total of 1,330,077 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles sold, an increase of 6,7% over the same period in 2013 . today.
