As someone mentioned in the last thread about Bristol, this was really poor timing for a visit, all things considered -- it's hard to get anyone too excited about rookie ball when the Pirates are trying to acquire Jon Lester.
I spoke to Edgar Varela, the manager of the Pirates' new rookie affiliate in Bristol, in his office Wednesday afternoon.
Jon Lester would be able to pitch immediately for his new club if he's dealt by the Boston Red Sox before Thursday's Major League Baseball trade deadline.
