Just get the deal done already. As a businessman, I understand the desire to get the best possible price for your asset, but as a Cubs fan it is tiring to see this prolonged negotiation. Seriously, the Trib is set to receive 700 million dollars in profit before taxes and they act as though this amount isn't enough? I don't really care who buys them, just get it done already!!!

Will this mean that the trib will actually routinely carry stories when the Cubs lose, vs. their standard MO of only including stories on the Cubs when they win? Today's a typical day - Cubs lose but no direct headlines on the front page, though there are always direct links when they win.

I hope the UTAY group wins the contest for the CUBS and moves the team to UTAY! They need a team out there and they might as well take over the lovable losers.

My god, does Tom Ricketts look like a sleazy newborn lizard. How a guy like that has the money for a cup of coffee is beyond me.

Whoever ends up paying $900M is going to find out that they overpaid, cannot afford any new players, and the team is going to sink to the bottom. People will stop buying tickets and t-shirts. The team will go bankrupt. And the wonderful taxpayers of IL will bailout the new owner because we all hate to see rich people lose their money.

This smells bad. That means Reinsdorf/Selig are whispering in someone's ear.

Teams aren't allowed to go bankrupt. MLB would take over the club and find a new owner.

Bidding wars are not good for customers (fans). Someone has to pay for the extra price that is extracted in a bidding war.

The Billy Goat Curse remains no matter who owns the team. They should have let Murphy the Goat into that 1945 World Series Game. The Cubs have been paying for that big mistake ever since.

Tribune Co., Hell. It's old Sam Zell wanting the biggest bang for his mis-spent bucks. This guy must have figured how to send it ahead.
After this deal is completed, if that ever happens, only the wealthiest of fans will be able to attend games. Even now, the cost is prohibitive to many.

Save your money and buy a minor league baseball team instead. Your chances of winning the World Series would be the same.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Cancer

Be careful today Cancer, because your emotions could cloud certain issues as they often to and leave you feeling confused. You should be especially wary of believing what you want to believe, rather than believing the evidence in front of your eyes. It's easy to kid yourself now about someone's motives or reliability, even if deep down you know that you're telling yourself a load of old twaddle.
