Some big winners in first Brand Madness group as second group in action today
There were some big winners in the first group of local brands in action as part of Dayton's Brand Madness 2014, while the second group of 16 local brands are in action starting today. Dayton Dragons , Dorothy Lane Market and The Greene were the biggest winners of Group A in the first round of voting open Monday and Tuesday.

A 16-year-old boy from Norwich to appear in Lowestoft Youth Court...
A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in court next month after a multi-agency day of action that took place in Lowestoft. The boy from Norwich, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with two counts of possessing with intent to supply a Class A drug, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Mebane pledges funds for sewer at White Furniture project
The city has pledged to pay for $700,000 in improvements to the storm sewer system and sidewalks near the site of the White Furniture building, in addition to waiving $180,000 in water and sewer connection fees for the developer. Mike Hill, president of D3 Development in Durham, spoke to the City Council on Monday night about the firm's need for assistance in covering costs associated with renovating the former downtown factory into apartments.

The reigning Governors' Cup champion Durham Bulls came from behind late and downed International League West champion Columbus 4-3 in 10 innings here Thursday to even their best-of-five playoff series one game apiece. The Bulls, who lost the opener here 9-4 on Wednesday, came back from a 3-1 deficit with single runs in the seventh and ninth innings to tie Thursday's crucial Game 2. In the seventh, Nick Franklin doubled with one out and came home on a single by the newest Bull, Luke Maile, to cut the Clippers' lead to 3-2.
