Sgt. Patrick Rust endured two tours of war, walking the perimeter of an Army post in Iraq and manning a truck-mounted gun to protect his unit along the roads of Afghanistan. But it was when Rust was home, stationed at Fort Drum with the 10th Mountain Division, that danger caught up with him.

Fort Druma s Gray Eagle drone company begins flights

It's a whirlwind of activity at Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield, as the Army's Gray Eagle drones have taken flight over the last few weeks. The 36 pilots of the new Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment have seen constant action since their inaugural flight Aug. 19, rotating through hours of overnight missions in the post's restricted airspace to get up to speed.

A new project from a team at Yale University has geographically organized a series of government photos from the 1930s and 1940s, including images of life in Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego counties. The Yale Photogrammar Project organizes by county photos taken nationwide by the Farm Security Administration - Office of War Information, a New Deal project that compiled some of the most recognizable images of the Great Depression and World War II.
