Looks like he misplaced his meth lab. Why do these guys always look like they crawled out of a sewer.

I wonder if he was being a nuisance to the public, because they say he was walking home from the bar. If he was driving, then he may have killed someone by drinking and driving. Thank God he didn't. It just seems damned if you do, and damned if you don't with the West York police.

I personally think the city trash needs to stay in the city! West York is quiet and needs to stay that way. Yeah thank God he was walking and not driving but keep ghetto people in the ghetto!

Here's a lad who needs to be dried out, reeducated, and allowed to think over the errors of his ways by doing ten years at hard labor. If he cleans himself up and can be useful to society, perhaps consider paroling him. If he resistes reeducation and proves to be a smart-ass, add five years hard labor to his sentence.

Fighting the police officer and fleeing were inexcusable. Granted this guy obviously has issues and is likely not the most upstanding citizen. That said, on the tail of the huge DUI feature on this site, why was it that they were busted for walking home from the bar? So many on here condemned driving drunk--here's an example of people walking instead.
Is there something missing from this story? If they were causing disturbances then I might be able to buy it. But, if they were just walking home from the bar minding their own business (drunk or not) it is absolute insanity that they were accosted for merely walking home drunk.

Semi--I assume you'd like to subsidise his re-habilition/sentence through your taxes? Somebody would have to feed him, clothe him and provide him with access to cable television while he's in the clink.

“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t”? Really? Did you read the article?
This guy wasn’t driving and still almost killed someone.
Obviously if you drink, you don’t drive. But that doesn’t mean its okay to walk home if you’re drunk. Lets assume this guy wasn’t stopped. Maybe he stumbles into oncoming traffic, a driver swerves to miss him, hits another car and both innocent drivers die; maybe he gets into a fight with the woman on the way home and kills her; maybe he passes out on the train tracks making him potential “road kill”…
And FYI – cops usually don’t just stop people who are casually walking down the street.
Getting “caught” for public drunkenness is merely a slap on the wrist and a safe ride home. Instead of condemning a proactive police officer for doing his job, shouldn’t we be thanking him for sacrificing his life to get this psycho off the streets?
It’s simple. Have a little self-control when drinking. If you can’t handle that – stay out of the bar. And if you do find yourself in that situation -- call for a ride.
If you can’t handle that I don’t think anyone will feel sorry for you if you’re arrested. I certainly won't.

I am all for proactive efforts by police officers. Thank God the officer and no one else was injured. He could have taken the gun, fired wildly and innocent people could have been hurt. It also goes to show you that violent crimes are just not a city problem. To say they need to keep "ghetto people in the city" goes to show one that ignorance is alive and well!

Let's assume the scenerio that the couple were walking home from entertaining with freinds at a local tavern in celebration that finally some good things were happening in their life. They were discussing being productive and moving on with their lives. The officer approached the couple and like so my times before stereotyped or even recognized the couple. They flee and are apprehended and now we can judge them by the way we live our lives.

Him, Very well said. I just know they were talking about 'being productive' citizens. As they approach West Street, they rob someone. The police officer ignored them, previously, so someone saw this and a huge stink arises. Or THEY are robbed/killed. How about all the breakins of autos in the city. This guy probably had adequate funds, so he would never thing of doing something like that. The policeman should have grabbed him by his pig-tails and beat his head to a pulp on the sidewalk. That would save some of you complainers incarceration money. Plea bargain, temporary insanity, such a nice young man, just when he was getting his life squared away with discussing "being productive".

And because we have draconian drug laws, the dude freaked out because he was going to be popped for having a minimal amount of marijuana on him. None of this excuses the guys behavior in attacking the officer, resisting arrest, etc. and he ended up almost getting him himself killed over what would have been a couple hundred dollar fine for the punlic drunkeness and possesion charge. Still, based on the info in the story, the officer should have just told the guy to be careful and let him stumble home. It would have been beneficial to both the officer and the suspect.

SOMETIMES we got to do what we have to do. but you should know not to hit a police office that is a no no.

The officer was TOTALLY WRONG in asking Alloway to be searched. As for the public drunkeness, posession and eluding the pig will be thrown out. A good lawyer will get him off. However the fiasco with the pig will not. Musslemen had no right in searching a normal citizen. It seems to me the pig was profiling the suspect. Probably had red eyes, long hair in pig-tales. Now for everytime that I walk home from a bar, I could have been arrested for public drunkenness but the police need more money so they are looking for DUI's. When did the USA become a police "state".

I did not see one comment about where the several shots ended up,maybe in the back of some kids head. How can this cop justify firing wildly at this guy as he was running away,at that juncture was his life in any immediate danger from a man running away?He should be suspended and charged with reckless endangerment, and use his time off to practice at the shooting range. One to many episodes of Dirty Harry at home in the video collection? Heres how I see this going down.First off he wasn't charged with drunk and disorderly which leads me to ask what reason did this cop have to even approach this guy other than being an arrogant cop looking to hassle some long hair hippy type dude.I hope this guy gets a good lawyer and sues for harrassment.

We had informed them of something one time wasn't a big deal but they told us to mind our own business and let the cop work to the cops, then they want to push the block watch thing well hell to the no on that one let the cops do it,just a shame they think they are all that !!!!!!!
