I believe that generally folks expect smoking to be part of the drinking scene so they just don't go to where it is allowed - EASY - the Health Department is trying "to help potential employees not have to forcibly inhale second hand smoke" GIVE ME A BREAK - most bars have their friends, family as workers who don't mind smoking - not too many resumes "out there" to go to work in a bar I bet. hahaheheh

Anyway, of course I've heard Ellison broke worse laws over the years than allowing smoking in his bar. It will be interesting to follow this saga - especially since I live close by and know some of the folks involved.

Now if I STILL DRANK and hung at bars - I would have been right there with a sign ABOUT RIGHT TO SMOKE.

I'm sorry, again our sorry local governments are overstepping. Wait a minute, I don't remember electing any of the execs on the Health Department. Oh, that's right, they are appointed, yet somehow get the power to legislate to us surfs of the state.

For many years certain businesses in the valley were non-smoking by choice, which should be the business owners. It's high time the "state" (not state of WV in general) quit worrying about my health and welfare.

there are thousands of things we eat, drink and inhale and even chemicals that absorb our skin and get into our bodies that kills - I don't understand the state raises taxes on cigarettes to balance their budget (and drinking and gammbling) what would they do if EVERYBODY quit it all???

There are some intriguing reports on the following website that claim that in some circumstances there may be health benefits from smoking and nicotine. Click on the link, and read the reports for yourselves:
