Hip Replacement

Probable Hip Revision after MOM hip resurface

Hi Tracy, Sorry I have not checked comments and missed yours, you should have had your op by now and I'm sure all will be well. I saw my ortho consultant 3 weeks ago and he said if my tumour had been a 'mass' and not a tumour then he would have been concerned, why the difference I do now know he said he does not think it has anything to do with my metal hip, I will be having my metal hip removed end July beg of August, I did tell him I had joined a forum to find more information his face told me what he thought of that idea! Hip Replacement

Probable Hip Revision after MOM hip resurface

Hi Tracey, I had pain in my groin, thigh and buttock and when scanned it was fluid which was causing the pain, not as I thought a sprain, I think you need to ask for a 'jelly' scan. If you look back under Yorkshire Golden I have said what has happened to me, I'm 4 weeks after my op now and just starting to feel better but still have to go through more surgery to remove my hip. Hip Replacement

failed hip replacement - metal poisoning

I had a dupuy metal hit replacement in June 2008, everything was fine untill Nov 2011 when my cobalt and chromium levels starting rising above the 'ceiling' laid down, also I was found to have fluid from my buttock/thigh round to my groin, my groin was very painfull. Whilst investigations were being carried out I had a very painful stomach (starting end Dec 2011)I was examined by different consultants (Bowl/OBGYN) what started out as being called a 'swelling' between my lower bowl and my uterous moved on to a mass and finally tumours, on the 27th March 2012 I had a total hysterectomy, where a large tumour was found to be around my ovaries and my bladder. I had been told that it was not a fibroid many weeks ago and the only possible explanation for the way this mass was growing so fast was cancer, I attended York hospital and Jimmy's our cancer centre agreed after looking at scans that this was cancer. This where it gets a bit frightening, 3 doctors and 2 consultants asked the question "Could this be from your hip implant?" If this is the case then what else is happening to me and maybe other people, I am unable to have the implant removed till I am fit enough, the orthopedic consultant wanted to remove the implant immediately, does he know something I dont?  (Apr 15, 2012 | post #73)
