You're right: life is life. But, human life is not a human person. My kidney (which is human life) can be removed and given to another person. This is human life I have donated, but it isn't the human person. Neither is a fetus, for sure in the first trimester. This is my personal position on the question.  (Wednesday | post #14)

It stuns the imagination that Catholic bishops would deprive millions of living people, many of them children, of decent health care in order to protect fetuses. Many of these bishops had the gall to compare themselves to MLK in the recent Manhattan Declaration. MLK would never associate himself with them in sacrificing so many children and people because of their fixation about abortion and gay marriage. These men are showing that they are a shame and an insult to the principles of Christian life and the meaning of decency.  (Monday Nov 23 | post #1)

Marriage is an invention of mankind. It became a sacrament in the Catholic church in the 12th century. It's current form has nothing to do with God. It is a contract between two human beings and can be annulled through legal action when violated. The current hysteria over the institution is complete nonsense.  (Monday Nov 23 | post #10)

Its quite unfortunate, but I've been told that our local bishop is one of these people. It doesn't surprise me since he believes that the greatest virtue for laypeople is obedience. even if the abuse had not been substantiated. " That's what the report said. The principle I like to follow is: Innocent till proven guilty. If they have not been found guilty, there is yet no reason why they need to be punished. This principle of law stands for all of us; and that includes clergy of any denomination.
