True -but, while there is a time to preach, there is also a time of silence: STATUTORY LAW: Ecclesiastes chapter 3. CASE LAW (and example) - Acts 16:6 (KJV), which says: ""Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,"" Even JESUS did not always preach --good case example: Mark 6:31 (KJV) And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. In this case, it might be wise to see if the ground is ready to accept the Word -but I guess it doesn't hurt to just try it out to test the waters once in a while -if you're uncertain.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #21025)

Perhaps this is correct -the word is somehow or the other actually alive... However, even Paul the Apostle did more than just refer to the scriptures at his disposal; rather, brother Saul of Tarsus made many logical arguments -and often times used his *arguments* to prove the *scripture*. Yes, doing just the opposite (using *scripture* to prove your *arguments*) is correct -but it is even better to do both -even Jesus made good arguments to supplament his quotations of the scriptures availble during his time. Remember: Jesus' life is the perfect example, guide, and role-model, per John 13:15 -the only perfect uch life too -one we should try to emulate. I don't mean to criticise you I guess your tactic or plan is indeed good for all people -not just those who already belive the Bible), rather add additional perspective. I guess it is good to review the scriptures witr those who don't believe -since they might catch something they missed 1st time 'round.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #21024)

Crazy Baptist, although I agree with your conclusion, but I have to agree with GOLEM here: Using a basis for your argument that is not accepted by the reader (validity and truth of the Bible notwithstanding) is an illogical tactic in argument. They FORGOT one! Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Since Jesus IS God (the Son), this would technically refer to him too. This really irks me about the Jehovah's Witnesses -they focus on ONE of God's names -to the general exclusion of all His other names. Their religion would just as accurately be called 'Jealous Witnesses' and be right. Another thing, they are wrong on several key points -and an ancillary point too -they believe Jesus and Michal are the same person ... You are right, but when some in the reading audience don't accept him as Saviour, Messiah, and King, they would be unnecessarily distracted by some reference to "Jesus the CHRIST and SAVIOUR." (In a few cases, a reader might not know who I am talking about -but most would.) Since most on the board here know my belief that Jesus is King of Kings, etc., it would not be necessary to repeat myself -unless I was making a point or argument about, say, the Divinity of Jesus, etc. Actually, it’s spelled NAZARENE, but I almost didn’t catch it because the stupid spell-check in my Internet Explorer browser isn’t working for some reason. Actually, GOD takes the first step by making the pathway clear for us to receive forgiveness -and a perfect example and role model to keep us from being discouraged and confused. I did not mean to poke fun at you or others on the losing end of the stick. I know what it's like to 'lose' a battle, and I don't rightly appreciate being made fun of. (However, in the case of TROTH who is making fun of my campaign website -in a race that i lost --I am not going to get made at her (or him?) --since I view that as a small matter, one which did not hurt me too badly.) I was only bringing up the issue of the voters rejection of this to point out academic arguments in favour of the straight marriage version of events -and to perhaps cause one to wonder if maybe the straight marriage only standard might have merit. I know that voters' positions alone does not prove I'm right (voters have been wrong in the past -many times) --but it is means for reflection -for pause -not for offense -not on my part anyhow.  (Saturday Nov 7 | post #20801)

Regardnig the betrayal in Maine, I infer you mean the voters betrayed your standards -and you -here??
