Floresville is a great town to live and raise a family. However, there are a great deal of good ole boy networks and collusion. FISD is significant tax user and is on its way to build the largest welding school in the state and call it an early college center. FEDC collects a ½ cent sales tax to fund pet projects like Arcadia Theatre which now charges big city prices. These expenditures all have been done with the complacency of the Floresville Chronicle. I hope like the folks who were involved in the recall election, I can have an impact on the community.
Why did Arcadia raise all its prices? Taxpayers through the Floresville Economic Development Corp helped renovated this just above acceptable theater. I use to send my kids there because of the atmosphere but the new manager has not made it kid friendly and it is to costly. I miss the popcorn special. I hope greed does end this small town theatre. In the meantime, if I am going to pay this much for a movie, I might as well go to the big city for a real nice theatre. (Feb 25, 2008 | post #1)
