Blue Team Bias?

Just a small correction Frances. It is Nixle.com. And Merry Christmas to you and everyone else here on Topix.  (23 hrs ago | post #59)

Blue Team Bias?

Nixle was started by and is run by the Midlothian Police Department. Community Policing Committee is helping to promote it and try to make it a success. Topix is already being used as sort of a community alert program, and has been for a long time now, except for the few that want to for some reason abuse it. And yes, Frances is quite the Lady. She has been a great source of information, not misinformation and lies. She has tried very hard to reach out to others with differing opinions, not abuse and attack. If we are all truly concerned for Midlothian, then now is the time to come together and make things happen. As Nixle gets going, maybe the alerts will come quicker. Remember it is a new system, just started a month ago. We would like every resident to register and remember to put 14801 S. Pulaski as your location. There was a nice message from the Police Chief today. As far as Topix goes, only the Police Department will know the correct details on certain issues, so we should rely on their information the most.  (Wednesday | post #52)

Blue Team Bias?

The Midlothian Police Department started Nixle. The Community Policing Committee is just helping to make it a success. The MPD wants the residents to be more informed of what is going on in town. Of course it won't be used to inform everyone of every movement by every squad car.  (Sunday Dec 20 | post #39)

whats going on with helicoptors

I got the impression from what I was told by the Police Department, that it was happening now. That is why I was surprised to hear that they were still being heard on the scanners.  (Sunday Dec 20 | post #67)

Actually, our committee meeting was before the incident occured so we didn't have time to put together a press release to inform residents what to do.  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #14)

Does this have anything to do with why television went to all digital. So to open all of the analog frequencies for Homeland Security. Or is that a completely different theory?  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #63)

I'm too old to be running around at 11:00 p.m. in the middle of winter. Back in the day though.....  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #11)

Alright, seriously, if you consider Cook County Sheriffs looking for a hit and run offender a crisis, then maybe you haven't lived in the Chicago area that long. Maybe I'm naive, but I trust that the State Police, Cook County Sheriffs, and Midlothian P.D. can do their job, and do it well.  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #6)

I was in bed trying to go to sleep (because I get up at 4:30 a.m.) wondering what the hell is that noise?  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #4)

What happened to the new trash cans?

Someone said earlier in this thread that you can call Allied Waste and ask for additional totes. The cost is $15.00 every six months.  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #58)

We were given the impression that it was being changed to something that wouldn't be received by scanners. Sort of like changing from analog to digital. I'm not quite sure of the details. If it hasn't been changed yet, then it will be very soon.  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #53)

My alert from nixle said that it was a cook county sheriff incident and that it was resolved. Midlothian P.D. was not involved. As far as the scanner goes, the frequencies have been changed and you will not be able to monitor Midlothian Police on your scanners. WW1, your user name can be anything you want, but your email has to be your current email address so that you will be able to receive email alerts to what is going on in town. Doubleg, the information comes from the Midlothian Police Department at this point, but in the future we are looking at adding other administrative people that can put out community alerts. Also, I didn't check my e-mail until today, so I may not have gotten the alert until today. I haven't checked the date and time of the alert, so I'm not positive of when it came in.  (Friday Dec 18 | post #50)

P.S. The Community Policing Committee will be holding a village wide meeting at the Midlothian Park District on January 30th, from 11:00am - 1:00 p.m. to give a presentation on Nixle and register anyone interested.  (Friday Dec 18 | post #46)

As a matter of fact there is a community alert system in place. The Midlothian Police Department and the Community Policing Committee have started a community alert program called Nixle. All you have to do is log on to Nixle.com, create your home page by entering your name and number and e-mail address, and once you have your homepage, put in 14801 S. Pulaski as your location and you will receive e-mails and text messages if you so desire on anything going on in town. I received a notice last night about the police activity at 147th and Central Park.  (Friday Dec 18 | post #45)
