Police: Underage drinking party
And what parent would go out of town and leave their teenager at home alone without expecting there to be a huge party? HELLO!!! (Feb 8, 2011 | post #10)
A. My reference was to marrying in a Catholic church, which you probably don't know anything about. Matrimony is such a serious thing to the Catholics. You can't be married in their church until you receive counseling with your perspective partner and go through a waiting period while your intentions are announced. And there are good reasons why they do this. This might explain why less Catholics get divorced. If your marriage does fail and you divorce, you forfeit the opportuninty to marry again in a Catholic church. B. I don't get your reference, are you saying they can come to Vermont and get married but it is illegal for them to come back to Vermont to get their divorce? Or are too lazy or so totally no-serious about the value and meaning of marriage to go back to the state where they got married to get their divorce? C. My reference was not about underage kids, it was about how people will find a way to do whatever they want, especially if you tell them "no". Medicinal marijuana is a similar situation, alcohol-free counties, no-texting states, non-permit handgun states, etc, etc, etc. If leaving their own state gets-r-done for them, they will. That is why there needs to be a uniform rule for all states. So people can get married (or in the case of gays "pairried " because gays will never get everyone in society to let them use the "married " word) or un-pairried wherever they live. And I have never hit my wife. (Feb 8, 2011 | post #67)
I am in favor of other nuclear technology as well, I just think it is a waste for Obama to give GE trillions of taxpayer money to build wind turbines and solar panels when both get very little "bang for their buck" but are supposed to make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Obviously there is more politics involved than green energy or becoming enrgy efficient. (Feb 8, 2011 | post #20)
Sorry, I type too fast when I am mad. So how exactly did you find today's conversation Fred? Certainly someone from Nebraska has much better things to do than post all afternoon to a blog that is 2,000 miles away. Or did the Banner come up on your daily must comment internet search? If you check the archives of the Banner about recent gay rights legislation/discus sions, you find the same scenario, one or two outsiders trying to drive the conversation by trying to appear smarter than the rest of us. Get married in the church, you have to get divorced in the church, why should gays be any different than the rest of us, isn't that what they want anyway, to be treated like the rest of society? Circumvent the state's law by going out of state to get married, underage kids without parental permission do it all the time. But by the same token you have to do the same thing, go out of state again if you want to get a divorce. Or should we look at gay marriages as being in the same vein as underage kids without their parents permission? At least in Nebraska it appears so. (Feb 7, 2011 | post #49)
I seem to remember from school that the sun is just one big nuclear reactor anyway. And any rocket shot towards it would burn up somewhere between mercury and the sun anyway. These are spent fuel rods not Hiroshima bombs. (Feb 7, 2011 | post #18)
Police: Underage drinking party
no alcohol was purchased, it was all brought in from parent's liquor cabinets. so that makes it OK (Feb 7, 2011 | post #7)

every time the word gay comes up in a Bennington headline, the GLBTs call out the blog brigade like Fred from Nebraska here. I'd like to say if you ignore him he will go away, but the fact is, he has been assigned to moderate this coneversation for us today and there is no shutting him up. That is how the movement works, call you a racist or a **** if you disagree and quote the bible where necessary and convenient. Cuz gays are SO much smarter than any of us could ever be, must be they received some special "my s**T don't stink" enlightenment as they exited the closet. Ask a straight girl out for a date, it'll do you wonders. (Feb 7, 2011 | post #28)
put the waste in a Saturn V and launch it toward the sun.It will be water vapor before it ever gets there. Gotta be a thousand times cheaper than storing it underground until it decays and NASA needs the work. IMBY (Feb 7, 2011 | post #14)

Bar fight leads to assault charge
I wonder if this 18-year old (who was hanging out 2 different bars) might be related to Bennington Police Chief Paul Doucette? Might explain why the assaulted Sears was busted leaving the hospital. Like maybe a three time DUI offender deserves to spit chicklets? Banner should research further, like they did with the 80-year old Doucette who was hit by a car on North Church a few weeks back (that story plainly stated they were not related) (Feb 1, 2011 | post #9)

CDC: Barone will get $55K in severance
I understand there isn't a simple solution but the concern should be what kind of message this sends to the students when someone is paid severance for poor performance or to just go away. (Jan 27, 2011 | post #13)
