Arlington teacher receives 9-month deferred sentence

Let's see if any of the parents end up suing her for facilitating an underage drinking party. Some of the attendees were issued "tickets " for underage drinking which could affect their acceptance into expensive and prestigious universities. Not that any of the kids were blameless in this matter but parents feel their kids can do no wrong (including her with her own daughter apparently) and need someone else to blame instead of accepting their kids shortcomings.  (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #49)

I would prefer that she call these kids parents and have them come get them. That would have been the responsible thing to do, rather than covering her own butt. I realize that might ruin hers or her daughter's popularity with the really cool teenage drinker and druggers but it is still the proper way to go about it. And as far as my being perfect, far from it. But I don't whine or cry or make excuses for my own actions. Screwing up and getting punished is how people learn from their mistakes, remember your own childhood. And if you tell me your parents never discplined you, I'll say no wonder today's kids feel so entitled to do whatever the damn please. If there are no consequences, there is no deterrent to prevent the behavior to happening again. Has everyone forgotten what being a parent or a responsible adult is all about?  (Monday Nov 9 | post #40)

I have been saying all along that the hot teacher would get off, but I also know that the male teacher who used to give us all the Vulcan neck pinch in school would be doing jail time. Society pitys the pretty ones especially if they can force out a tear or two. Look at the CBA teacher in Albany a few years back who was having sex with students, she plead being the victim with some sort of mental defect, shed a few tears and got off lightly as well.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #38)

1st error in judgement, allowing her daughter to have a party for "a few friends" that starts at 10:30 at night. DUH! 2nd error, leaving them to their own devices unsupervised. DUH! 3rd error, not doing anything once she "suddenly realized" that the kids were drinking other than to tell them none of them could leave, because they could get HER in trouble. Premeditation to conspire. 4th error- refusing to take proper responsibility during her statement to the court. The judge should have decided her not sorry enough, and told her to get her PR people to rewrite her statement or drop the "expunged record" carrot so that she can't be allowed to befriend a bunch of kids her daughter's age at another school when she gets her credentials back.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #37)

Trucker pleads guilty in crash

Law suits result in paper business and trucking outfit having to file for bankruptcy. Brattleboro jobs lost because of out-of-towners stupidity. Closure for one family while disrputing many other famiilies, and this guy wouldn't even hang around the court house to negotiate his plea deal? Teens plead not guilty to theft of motorcycles

who was in charge of watching these kids and why weren't police notified when they disappeared that night? It makes no sense to give juveniles another chance if the place you send them to is not going to monitor them more closely.
