Ryanair budget European airline considers pay-per-potty toilet fee
Just another example of when you buy something or pay for a service there is another charge. Drives me nuts. just tell me how much it is up front, quit hiding things. Shakespeare was wrong, don't kill the lawyers, kill the bean counters instead. (Mar 1, 2009 | post #8)

154-year-old store closes in Aurora
I often see a big box store move in, drive out the older businesses and then the big box goes out of business itself. It is a shame that the pencil pushers can't see the damage they inflict on areas when they do that. Big boxes promise big things and get people to believe in them, then leave them high and dry. On the other hand we all run like lemmings to them when they open up, so who's fault is it? Tough question, but by judging from the other off-topic comments perhaps it serves us right. Chicago bicyclists tutored on rules of the road
To the drivers that object that bikes on on the road, just TRY to ride a bike or walk for that matter by the entrance ramps to the expressways. Seventy percent of the drivers are already at warp speed at the very start of the ramp. I have almost gotten struck fifty times by people in a hurry to get to jobs they hate. Those folks in their cars think it is their god-given right to hit that ramp going as fast as they can. You can complain all you want about bikes running stop signs, taking up too much of the road, whatever, the real problem is that people just aren't nice to others anymore, they take what they can get. If the city is really interested in solving the budget crisis, all they have to do is post a few cops on the entrance ramps, in no time they will have a surplus. Everyone stop whining and just play nice and everyone follow the rules, this place would be a lot nicer if we did. (Aug 21, 2008 | post #55)
Spertus closes Holy Land museum exhibit early
A failure to denounce denotes advocacy when fact fails to coincide with prejudice. One must be very careful when you walk the thin line of freedom of speach. Most times one only gets the freedom if you say what someone else more powerful agrees with. I think true courage is when you hear that what you don't agree with, but rejoice with that fact that you CAN hear it. Pitty that courage wasn't present in this case. (Jun 20, 2008 | post #45)

How much did we spend, how many hours upon hours did we waste on this? We have got to find out what was so important that we had to get this case to trial. What a shame, what a horrible shame. (Jun 13, 2008 | post #162)
Addison's ban on some window air conditioners is hot topic in town
It has always amazed me that government will pass incredible ignorant laws, then stand back and wonder why people laugh at them. This is a good case in point. Wait till the body bags start to pile up at the Cook County morgue and they will once the really hot weather gets here. Window air conditioners are for houses without central air, that's what they are there for. Addison, you are just plain stupid. "Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government's purposes are beneficial. The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding. " Louis D. Brandeis, (Supreme Court Justice) 1928 (Jun 12, 2008 | post #18)
NTSB ruling on 2005 Metra accident in Elmwood Park expected
This is my idea, instead of paying for studies of why the accident happened, when everyone already knows. Put a police car on the corner and give 200 dollar tickets for everyone that ends up on the track during a stop light. Then with the monies collected, buy a brand new police car, park it there with a giant "thank you" sign. This could be a money maker for the town of Elmwood Park, and lower my property taxes I pay there. Or if you want to be more efficient, put one of those photo cameras there and just take pictures. Just the other day I was driving along Grand and the guy in front of me stopped on the tracks, they just don't learn. If they are going to be THAT dumb, we should make money off of them. Myanmar curbs aid, exports rice
This isn't about Bush, China, Iraq or anything like that. This is a simple prospect of thinning the herd. The government in Myanmar is cutting supplies to people that revolted against them. They sent thousand of soldiers into those areas to fight the protesters, now they do nothing. Less people mean less mouths to feed, less gripes to hear, less of everything. You are looking at the future. Sorry to say that, but it is. (May 10, 2008 | post #19)

Bride Dies During Marriage's First Dance
My prayers and thoughts go out to her husband, those close to her and especially the children at the school. This is something that will be with them for a long time. Fairy Tales are supposed to have happy endings. Life is such a precious thing. We should all learn to honor it every single day. (Feb 10, 2008 | post #55)
