Wayne Besen: Gays to Obama: "We've Seen Enough"
There are many reasons why it can't be done, money is one, transportation for myself and my power wheelchair is the other. I've tried before and it couldn't be done. I do support this as well as I can, though. Virginia Rae (Jun 20, 2009 | post #11)

Obama Gives Bread Crumbs to the LGBT Community - Lez Get Real
At this time he has the power to overturn both DOMA and DADTDP, but he seems too meek and political to do so, therefore he must want to lose the house and senate next election which he will if this is all we can expect from him. Virginia Rae (Jun 18, 2009 | post #4)
Kept From a Dying Partner's Bedside
Not bad of you but as always very honestly stated and sadly true. I remember the pain of my husband's passing and my being there was important for both of us and the rest of his family. We had divorced so he could get the medical help he needed, but no one doubted that we were still very much married and this should have been the case with these couples. It will take this happening to him or someone dear to him to make this pain clear and real in his heart and mind. Virginia Rae (May 19, 2009 | post #25)
Beautiful, and yes it's something we should read often and remember. Thank you for posting this. Virginia Rae (May 14, 2009 | post #318)

I'm glad you and your wife do love each other, that's what I wished you. Virginia Rae (May 13, 2009 | post #123)
I use a powerchair and your simile is very appropriate. There is a powerchair that can go up stairs, but it is so expensive that the majority of powerchair users can't afford it, and for a same sex couple to get all the legal paperwork together to get even close to all that's covered by marriage is also so expensive that the majority can't afford them. Also, that expensive powerchair doesn't work on all stairways just as not all the expensive legal paperwork some same sex couples get won't work in all states. Virginia Rae (May 13, 2009 | post #122)
I must admit I don't know about all case law but CA's constitution has an equal protection clause and that is one of the reasons why the court overturned prop. 22. I hope 8 is overturned or voted out in 2010, equality under the law is more important than allowing the majority to ride rough shod over the minority in our country. Thinking about fighting for equality is the right thing to do so of course makes me feel good. Thinking back on the love I had makes me glad to carry on what he and I both fought for. I hope you either know or will know the deep love I have. Virginia Rae (May 12, 2009 | post #109)
My husband only just passed last Aug. so I'm not looking, but under the constitution there's an equal protection clause so I do believe that prop. 8 will be found in violation of that and even if it is now part of the constitution, the constitution can't legally contradict its self. I also will always fight against unfair laws no matter how many vote for it. Virginia Rae (May 12, 2009 | post #100)

I Believe In:
I believe that most people are good, but too many have some need that drives them to try and control everyone but themselves which is why our world is in the shape it's in. I’m an agnostic because human knowledge is finite and god/s is/are infinite and no religious book can be anything other than someone’s ideas on god. I also accept that there might be no god at all. When people pray around me, I stay quite but don’t join in. I do agree when they say god bless so and so, as that is positive and it's better to wish others well than not to. Most of all, I believe that you can’t fake faith and really hated it when the Conservative Baptist churches I used to go to told me that even it would be a lie, I should just keep telling myself that I believe the same as they do until I begin to really believe them. This finally drove me away from those churches as lies were the things that caused me the greatest pain and problems growing up.
