The Pinoy Thread - Check this out...

Because he is still one, pug nose and all - despite all that deniability! You know what they say - ang magnanakaw galit sa kapwa magnanakaw! Happy to hear you had a good time, Tez. So did we. It was a little too short for us though. I think I had enough sisig for a while, but never enough letchon! May take a trip to France early part of next year - I may look you up.....  (1 hr ago | post #528)

DFA to open Bacolod office

Christine and gigi - you are obviously new to this forum otherwise the two of you have had the good sense to refer your questions to the proper agencies. Let me caution you now - this forum has been infested with morons, idiots, and nincompoops. If you choose to follow the advice of unqualified people and get yourself in deeper doodoo, it's all on you. Call home and get someone you trust to find the questions to your answers.  (Wednesday Aug 27 | post #4)

Imposing nationalism

Reminds me of the old USSR days - "You will be nationalistic, comrade. Or die!" Typical Philippine political fix to tend to a gaping wound: put a band aid on it. Better yet, demand for the band aid to miraculously cure the ails of a festering and gangrenous limb! This should be a wake-up call for the politicians to self-assess what they doing wrong. How they are miserably failing the nation. Why are the skilled work force wanting to move out? What do we need to stop doing - because what we are doing now is obviously not working? But like most Philippine civil servants, efficieny and public awareness missing in their genetic make-up.  (Thursday Aug 21 | post #3)

are u phillipino?

Hello, WAVA - going at me in all capital letters, I see. First off, racist may be the wrong term to describe me, Ilocanos and Cebuanos are off the same malay race. Since we are talking about provincial differences, how about we use the term, "PROVINCIST " instead. Secondly, my dad is Ilocano, my mom is Bicolana, and I was born in Cebu - so that makes me a mutt. Thirdly, you have obviously never been to Hawaii. The Ilocanos who I were exposed to were probably descendant from the migrant Ilocanos who worked the plantation fields from decades ago and in the process of having lived in Hawaii for so long most likely lost their national identity. ILOCANOS - that is who they say they are. That was how the conversation went, and I'm sticking to it. Thirdly, it must have been the Porsche I drove up in, the Armani suit I wore, the English I spoke (for the simple fact they could not converse with me in Tagalog), and the Rolex dangling off my neck that made them peg me as a racist! Thirdly, I may be talking out of my ass - but hey, if it sounds good to you, go with it. And my last thirdly, I love you too!  (Thursday Aug 21 | post #119)

It's Noli vs. Erap for president

Thanks for spelling it correctly! I cannot emphasize the (underscore) enough! But I would like Gloria Kawatan as my VP! It's her or nothing!  (Monday Aug 11 | post #18)

I'm flattered - but the correct spelling is: US(underscore)Base d = US_Based. Be sure to get that right when you nominate me.  (Monday Aug 11 | post #11)

My apologies - you certainly are the authority on that.. So, as an ex-filipino who moved to a foreign country to make a living, are you proud of yourself??  (Sunday Aug 10 | post #112)

You need to stop smoking that weed and familiarize with history. The so-called Christians in the guise of the Spaniards were the colonizers. And they easily colonized our ancestors in Luzon and Visayas except for the one region - 3 guesses which one......yes, that's right: Mindanao! Some of the hostility stems from the corrupt practices these Christians brought into the region; most notably land grabbing. These Christians came and essentially swindled the locals into giving them their untitled land. I think they have some cause for resentment, don't you? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!  (Sunday Aug 10 | post #11)

Haven't been to Hawaii have you? Lived there for about 3 years and was exposed to the ILOCANOS of Hawaii - NOT Filipinos mind you, they vehemently deny that, they are ILOCANOS; as if it was a country all unto itself.  (Sunday Aug 10 | post #109)

It's Noli vs. Erap for president

You sound like a broken record - "FAKE PRESIDENT OF CEBU..." what no original dialogue? Flip that brain over, put a q-tip in your ear; hopefully in removing that earwax will let your atrophied brain breath and invite new dialogue and new ideas (I hope)! Mabuhay si Gloria Arroyo!! Down with Erap!!!  (Saturday Aug 9 | post #3)

Relying on remittances can alienate

I think this discussion has assumed idealistic undertones. What you want to happen in terms of GMA accouting for her criminal actions (let's call it alleged) and my desire for personal reform for a better future probably will not happen in our lifetime. All the rhetoric about administering justic and finding the guilty parties behind the scandals and corruptions that have beleaguered GMA's administration is just that; and a bit of tittle-tattle! A lot of wind - no rain! But I offer to you: unless someone, preferably an overwhelming multitude of someones will realize the absolute lack of credibility and ineffectiveness of the government and all its branches enough to keep chipping and chipping and chipping and chipping at the facade to finally expose the true spirit of government, it will all be rhetoric and tittle-tattle. You and clueless and others like you are doing the right thing by caring and calling attention to the plight of our nation intelligently, coherently, and persistently. The challenge is to extend these awareness to the person next to you and the person next to him/her ad infinitum!  (Saturday Aug 9 | post #32)
