Heading off to prison

My apologies for the double post. Topix loaded with page errors when I tried to post the 1st time, so I waited, checked and reposted when I didn't see it appear. Then it did - resulting in my double post. Sorry 'bout that.  (Jul 14, 2008 | post #45)

Ahh, Mr. Yughh you have opened my eyes! Thank you sir for your guidance! You are correct, I should have rambled on about a topic that really isn't related to the subject matter put forth by the author. Having known many people who have and/or should have gone through prop 36, I guess I have been grossly misinformed and ill-educated on the break down of the system. I shall run out immediately and fix that. I also want to thank you for not accusing me of "ignorance, the true ignorance of the pig who doesn't want to hear anything that is not in keeping with his view of the world" because then I would be likened to the likes of you. Can't you see that is what you are doing by vehemently disagreeing with others who haven't even presented a position on the topic you discuss? I have not stated any position on prop 36 yet you assume that I "don't want to hear anything that doesn't keep with my view of the world." So tell me Mr. Yughh just what IS my view of the world? I have said it before to others who try to come to a forum like this one and attempt to 'educate' others on their views. It does not work. Again I applaud your tenacity but really Mr. Yughh, you should find a better venue to express your concerns where they might actually have an impact on the system you wish to change. Maybe you've done that, hopefully you have. But if you haven't… You'll do that, right? You'll do it pretty fast, too, won't you? Keep up the good fight Mr. Yughh, and again, have a nice day!  (Jul 14, 2008 | post #43)

Funny you assume that I know nothing of the 'system'. Your assumption, Mr. Yughh, is pure ignorance. I don't mean that disrespectfully but in the true sense of the word. I know far more about our judicial system and youth in Mr. Martinez's situation than you'll ever realize. I'll applaud your tenaciousness in getting your message across and I am not saying they are not valid however you tend to ramble into sentences that end up not having much meaning if any. I believe THAT is what others (as well as I) are addressing. Understand now? Have a nice day Mr. Yughh  (Jul 14, 2008 | post #39)

Ummmm... huh? So are you insinuating that everyone reading this thread is into crime and drugs?? I have to agree respectfully Mr. Yughh that most of your comments have made little sense. Mr. Martinez, life is all about choices. You are responsible for your own. Yes there are certainly unfair situations that occur; everybody experiences those, however you chose to compound your situations by your choices and actions, and if you are in fact a supposed gang member, I have no sympathy for you. It is a life style you chose and you have to accept everything that comes with it. Here is your silver lining…. You're only 18 - you have time to fix yourself but my suggestion is you do it soon. You can start by being accountable and accepting reasonability. Don't violate the law then cry foul if/when something with in the judicial system seems unfair. It really isn't that hard to be 'good' and follow the 'rules'… really.  (Jul 14, 2008 | post #35)

110-degree day breaks 98-year-old record in Ukiah

You're correct RC. I called the Eureka center and they said it was a record for THAT day.  (Jul 11, 2008 | post #3)

110-degree day breaks 98-year-old record in Ukiah

Interesting, I have lived here 29 years and would swear I've seen 117 days over the years. Mendocino college has a weather station you can access online http://www.mendoci no.edu/scardimona/ broadcast.jpg and on Tuesday its hi was 116 and my weather station at home that day said 108 in the shade. On Wed. the college site had a hi for the day of 111 and at home in the shade it hit 106. I find it really hard to believe this story that 110 is a record breaking hi in 98 years.  (Jul 11, 2008 | post #1)

Monster trucks...and more

We attended the art show and thoroughly enjoyed it. We have some talented youth in our community! Even our 6 year old enjoyed the drawings, pottery and woodwork. Thank you UHS teachers and students for your great presentation.  (Jun 9, 2008 | post #4)

Predators

Agreed - how does this relate to predators in our community? That said, yes we have our share of feral cats. The only way to battle this issue is to take some responsibility even if you have to do it for someone else. Last year we had a stray lurking around our property (somebody just dumped her there) who had a litter of 7 kittens in our ski boat. Lovely. Of course our daughter (who was 5 at the time) wanted to keep everyone of them. So we took advantage of the situation. We educated our daughter about what a problem this is for the kitty world and people world. We went as a family to take momma kitty to the vet and have her fixed then we found her a nice home (where she is doing great) after her kittens were weaned. Although the mother wasn't feral the kittens were CRAZY! (the father is a crazy feral cat and our next 'project') But we were able to find homes for 4 of them. Of course we let our daughter pick one for her and we took the last 2 to the shelter where they found homes as barn cats. Was it a pain in the **** ? Yes. Did it cost us some money? Yes. However we have a wonderful pet, a happy daughter who has learned a lot from the experience and eight less cats out there poppin' out feral kittens and not to forget other happy pet owners who received one of the kittens. We could have just let the 7 kittens and mom go wild, but that would not be the responsible or humane thing to do and would have set a poor example for our daughter. Like it or not, we as community members need to step up and take some responsibility for others actions when it has an impact on us all. Never miss an opportunity to teach your children well.  (May 22, 2008 | post #4)

Todd Grove Rocket ship gets support

Now at age 41 I still have fond memories of the adventures in outer space we had in that rocket; shooting down aliens and meteors and the occasional Darth Vader. And the strange planets we visited? Wow, amazing! My 6 year old daughter always wants to play on that structure when we're at the park. I tell her stories of when her dad and uncle (my little brother) used to play for hours on and around that rocket. I love to create memories for our daughter and am very glad that soon we'll be creating some that we'll have in common despite the years between them. I hope to one day watch my grandchildren climb the latter and blast off into space! Thanks to everyone who is making this icon of our community a new possibility.  (May 22, 2008 | post #3)

Breaking News: Law enforcement on man hunt in western hills of ...

Actually that is not entirely true. I took issue some time back with blatant gang related stuff being posted here. I called and spoke with UDJ as well as flagged the offensive posts and they removed them. It's only one gal at UDJ who monitors this forum and she is new at it. Flagging the posts gets an email to her so she can respond.  (May 13, 2008 | post #18)

4 arrested in meth, marijuana bust at motel

My appreciation and thanks to a fine job by LEO for getting these losers off our streets and securing a sizable amount of drugs now out of circulation. Good job guys!  (Apr 30, 2008 | post #6)

Guilty plea in child molest case

Wow, kind of rude don't you think? Stop reading? I was actually being sympathetic to your plight. I have watched similar digressions happen on the Press Demo site and they never go anywhere. Be that as it may, please then continue your defense on this worthless blog. One would hope you could spend your energy more effectively elsewhere than trying to convince a bunch of faceless people of their opinions here. It was in fact friendly advice. Good luck.  (Apr 25, 2008 | post #34)
