Absolute foolishness. There is only ONE doorstep to lay all this foolishness at - and that's Favre's, and he should HARDLY be rewarded for being a whining brat about this. Green Bay gave him EVERY chance to come back, but he made the decision to retire. Now, he needs to be a man and live with that decision ... or he needs to abide by whatever Green Bay's willing to offer. Either way, man up, Favre! I was listening to Buckethead Joe Rose the other day, and I think he had an excellent take on it. Consider another great QB, Dan Marino - had this been Marino, you wouldn't have seen any dithering or whining about it: it would have been full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes! That's how a REAL competitor who's truly interested in the game reacts, not as a spoiled child upset they no longer have the attention they so crave. I used to respect Brett Favre ... and perhaps he can still earn that back, by being a man. Either stay retired, or show you're a REAL man and a team player and go compete - and if you don't win the job, don't be baby but show everyone that you know how to take the position you've earned. Anything less, and you can stay in the doghouse you've built for yourself. for whatever is left of the rest of your whining, pathetic career ... (Jul 19, 2008 | post #23)
Plans to lengthen runway at Broward airport win blessing of fed...
Thank you for such a promotion! I wish ... I'd bet I could do as good if not a far better job. At least, that's what it feels like. AnywayTourism ain't my thing, so no. In fact, I've never been in an related industry ever, in my professional life. But that's meYou're assuming that **** you_ know what it means to be "IN touch" with them. I'd start the debate right there. The fact is, I have an idea. Like a person who actually THINKS about it, I understand that there are more than one side - even more than TWO - to the issue. I at least make an attempt to think about the bestest good for the mostest. How 'bout you? I notice you didn't even **** begin_ to attempt to debate any of the pertinent facts; therefore I will close simply by saying come back when you can contribute to an **** educated_ debate, instead of solely engaging in ad hominem attacks against those whom you disagree with. Plans to lengthen runway at Broward airport win blessing of fed...
I<< am a citizen of Broward County. I have lived here ALL of my forty-plus years. I was born just down the road from FLL at Broward General. Are you trying to tell me that >>I<< I am not a citizen here?? >>I<< want this. I know we as a community need this. I know South Florida as I community needs this. I also know we need it done rightNor do you have to. You don't need to learn, either; but that's your problem, and not mineYes, I am sure this is truly the biggest issue for you. And I understand it, and even sympathize with it. And I think the bill we are being sold in this case is more than it should be, because we are doing the wrong project. But >ALL< progress comes at a price; and as a businessman, you should >well< know the rule of thumb is that to make money you have to spend itNo, for by far the majority they have notSave for the Everglades, where we cannot build (remember Dade-Collier?), there is no space west. Certainly not anymore, thanks to the same developers who sold so many people a bill of goods too close to an airport that was not and never could be a good neighber. (That's not the airport's fault, although I know you blame it anyway.) This is regrettable, because then we >COULD< move the entire shooting match out here, and that would shut you and all those like you up quite properlyCertainly it can be large enough to suffice. And >will< be, save the NIMBYs have their way. Hopefully our commissioners will have the foresight and resolve to overcome that, and to do it rightThis not and has never been the be-all and end-all of what this is about. Instead of listening to the NIMBYs, only, you - and they - really need to take a look at the overall picture. Of course, I realize that's far too logical and reasonable a thing to do, especially when emotions are apparently running so highExpansion done right is most >certainly< worth itI am a born-and-bred-and- always-been-here native. Are you? Perhaps YOU should return to wherever sent you hereCertainly I do; much better than many - and certainly better than any NIMBY. (Jun 18, 2008 | post #32)
Plans to lengthen runway at Broward airport win blessing of fed...
No, you won't. This post betrays a fundamental lack of understanding regarding FLL's place in the world, and what can be expected of it. FLL is not regional. FLL is an O&D (origin & destination) airport in it's own right, IN ADDITION to being an alternative, second airport for the Greater Miami Dade area. Underestimating what that means is at best unwise, and worst foolish. Despite the current economic downturn, you WILL see air travel recover - just as it did after 9/11/01. With modern and more efficient jetliners on the design boards now and certainly to be expected in the future (not to mention those already in production), the mechanics of it will adjust. Travel will continue, make no mistake. The question is whether we want to do it the right way, now, or in a shortsighted and improper way as the bureaucrats are currently considering. Plans to lengthen runway at Broward airport win blessing of fed...
Air travel ISN'T going away. It WILL continue to increase. A new runway IS needed. Hiding our heads in the sand or plugging our ears and screaming just so we don't hear this won't make the problem go away. However ... This said, using $700 million in taxpayer dollars to put it in an unsuitable location is NOT acceptable. When the true experts - not the FAA bureaucrats, who know nothing but who gives 'em money, but the ladies and gentlemen who are the expert backbone running our air travel system - speak up, they give us the right of it. Build it on the north side of the airport. Environmentally and from a cost perspective, this is the proper place. From an airport ground traffic perspective, this is the proper place. While the fixed base operators on the north side - including, interestingly, The Wayne - will be inconvenienced, let them move to the airport's west midfield, where there's plenty of room. This is the right thing to do. (Jun 18, 2008 | post #16)
Heat's Dwyane Wade ignores Bulls trade-talk rumors -- Education...
What a joke. Of COURSE Dwyane is going to ignore such foolishness, coming as it does from a **** Chicago_ newpaper. It's such pie-in-the-sky dreaming I'm surprised that Fred Mitchell didn't ask for all the sinks in the Heat's locker-room while he was at it. Note to Mitchell and the rest of Shi'itecago while we're at it: Your #1 ain't worth Wade and the #2. It **** might_ be worth Wade and **** YOUR_ #2 this year, because - ya see - Wade is a proven commodity (some of the idiots on here notwithstanding). Since you're into these wild flights of fantasy, why not suggest something like Kobe and the Lakers' #1 this and next year for your pick? Or Garnett and the same from Boston? Or -star player here- from -whatever team-? Bottom line, this Shi'itecago Tribune article is more the fevered and delusional dreams of Bulls fan-children than it is reasonable and realistic speculation (any tendencies of Pay Riley aside). And anyone from here who takes is seriously is equally as fevered and delusional, and probably deserving of a padded room at South Florida State Hospital ... (Jun 4, 2008 | post #57)
Florida DOT created a traffic mess in Fort Lauderdale
This is just one more in a long list of ridiculous actions Florida DOT have taken. Whether it's traffic signal synchronizing (such as on Commercial Blvd. from Rock Island through to US441) or the original design for I595 (especially in the congested 441/Turnpike spaghetti bowl area) the one talent they've repeatedly shown is for incompetence. That these people are PAID to inflict this foolishness upon us is disgusting to me. (May 13, 2008 | post #4)
Dolphins deal Lorenzo Booker for fourth-rounder
"WHY??" is the big question running through my mind, as well. This does not make tremendous sense; yeah, we 'recovered' our 4th round pick traded to Dallas - but at the cost of third round talent which when it saw the field could have been considered better? Parcells and Ireland will have some 'splaining to do on this one, because it looks to be FAR from a good bargain for the Fins. They're the pros and 'experts' at this, and they need to show us why in this case. (Apr 26, 2008 | post #4)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
I'll give you this much, Phil; you do keep giving me material, even if it IS in the form of lunatic haranguesUm, no ... not really. I know what I know and have a pretty good idea about what I don't know (which is most things). One of those is I'd never claim to be an expert on NFL finances and personnel decisions. But I do pay attention and observe things, and come to some conclusions about things. Don't claim I'm always right about them, thoAnd you know this based on what powers of observation? I thought you had trouble seeing, PhilOh, Phil, thank you SO much for opening this door for me! "The Jets reign supreme" ... let's look at the facts. "Reign Supreme" would seem to indicate that the Jets are tops, the best, better than anyone else. One would believe that to mean the NFL. So, I think we should look at just how they stack up. Here's the NFL's statistics on the Jets: Record - 4-12. Okay ... right here, we see the Jets don't "Reign Supreme." The last I looked, the New England Patzers were 16-0. In addition, there were 13 other teams in the AFC alone that had an equal or better record. There were 15 teams in the NFC that matched or exceeded the Jets, as well. Only two teams - the Dolphins (which we well know, already) and the Rams. So, the Jets certainly aren't "Reign[ing] Supreme" via record. Offense - Out of 32 teams in the NFL, the Jets ranked 25th in points, 26th in total yards, 25th in passing yards, and 19th rushing yards. Nope, not "Supreme " world-beaters there. (Yes, we know, the Dolphins are worse.) Defense - The Jets were a bit better here. 19th in total points surrendered, 18th in yards, a credible 9th against the pass ... but 29th in trying to stop the run. I see a lot of 1's there ... but none of them by itself. Still not "Reign[ing] " ... And of course, the best possible way of measuring, winning the Stupor Bowl ... oh, yeah, that's right; you're with our Dolphins, on the sidelines watching. I guess the "Reign Supreme" thing is a bit factually challenged, isn't it? Kind of like everything else you tend post. But that's alright - you're good comic reliefNaw. It's just a game, Phil. I appreciate and enjoy my Dolphins (or at least I try), but I'm not a rabid Jets fan (sound familiar) to live and die by them. Anyway ... you have a great evening and a blessed New Year, Phil! Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
I don't think >>he<< has the first clue, Tony, he's so lost. (Common theme of all his posts, really, if you were able to stomach reading themWell, really, any free-agent signing is pretty much a crap-shoot. But I certainly understand this position very well indeed. But trying to do that with younger players of that sort is almost as much of a crapshoot as the draft. Any kind of talent is going to come at a cost, unless you somehow manage to strike lightning in a bottle; simply, TANSTAAFL (there ain't no such thing as a free lunch) is the rule in >>all< < of professional sports these daysWell, Mueller has to stay around for that. I'm kinda hoping that he does, and there's reason in his and Parcells' past to think that's possible ... but most of the 'expert' opinion seems to be saying that Mueller will be out and this guy from the Cowboys' front office will be in. All that said, I think you're very right regarding what Mueller >has< done. Gathering draft picks, clearing cap space ... he's got a strong resume himself of that sort of thing, and I can't give him terrible marks here. (Dec 23, 2007 | post #116)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
Here's some good discussion pointsEh, I think it's far too soon to tell. They threw him into an absolute fire for which there was no way he could be ready. He was essentially playing with third, fourth and fifth string players at the skill positions, no running game whatsover to give defenses pause, and a line which had regressed from where it had been mostly due to injuries ... blaming Beck for his performance under such conditions isn't entirely reasonable. Not at this pointWell ... I can see this, some. Sometimes he shows "deer in the headlights", and it'd be nice to think as a rook that wouldn't be the case. Frankly, I think he was set back a little from what he could be by his injury during the pre-season. But we've seen his world-class speed, and that's something that simply can't be taught. It's something this team needs, and needs badly, and there's little question he has improved from the kid who couldn't crack the starting lineup while Chambers was still hereAnd why wasn't he playing sooner? This, to me, is troublingSamson Satele? Should be a fixture at center for many, many years to come. Reagan Mauia? Learning, but a tremendous blocker already, and when Brown's back he will more than earn his keep again. Brandon Fields? Up and down, but the kid has a cannon for a leg, didn't do horrendously, and costs right. Should be around for some time to come, as wellYup, we could look at more, and who knows? Taking the kids we got in this draft as whole ... I don't think ANY of them have been caught, most are contributing, and on a number we have an incomplete situation we'll have to wait and see. I have every confidence that Parcells will be able to tell what's what this class, and do the needful with themWell, I just gave that. So ... we'll see where this goes nowSentiments likewise!! 8-) (Dec 22, 2007 | post #108)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
That's my biggest hope on the season - you hit it right on the head (don't get any ideas, Dr. Phil). Parcells' record at taking teams and making them better is as impeccable as it is clear. If he only stays long enough to have us on a clear course and with an improved roster, then he's certainly done what was asked. I can't and wouldn't count on moreExactly. Thing is, his habit is to leave guys in place who are that way. It's a bit early to thing any such profound change will take place shortly, but I don't think it'll be too long after the season's overGood point about Cameron, if the Tuna keeps him and can mold him properly. That's a HUGE question mark, and one I think is sure to be answered very quickly indeed. (Dec 22, 2007 | post #107)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
Enough to win six games this season past ... hey! That's some real confidence there, Dr. Phil! Methinks the folks in Alabama could be a bit more pleased. There's always next year, though. That'll tell us a bit more. I really think he >>IS<< better of in college, though. Unless you and your j-e-t-s want him, in which case you're certainly welcome to see what you can arrangeUm ... how did Dave Wannstedt get into this conversation? Really, Dr. Phil, try to stick to the topic, okay? (Dec 22, 2007 | post #106)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
Wow. Such entertainment. And from a self-proclaimed j-e-t-s fan, no lessOf course you don't ... but then, it's not specific to what I'm saying. You clearly show you have no idea what >>anyone's << talking about - including yourself - with every post you make. I don't know if this is a j-e-t-s things, or peculiar to yourself ... in which case you are giving your fellow j-e-t-s fans a very bad name indeed. You might want to consider that a bit more often before you boot your computerNo need, Dr. Phil. You don't present enough of a challenge to qualify as the sort of "wall" that would necessitate thatNot that you have given anyone anywhere on these forii the first single, solitary reason to believe the word one of what you say ... you still need learn how behave in public. To paraphrase Dean Wormer: Foul-mouthed and ill-mannered is no way to go through life, sonMore revisionist history. Readers, take note. BTW, Dr. Phil, I saw your foolishness regarding StrangeSaban turning Alabama around. Like another poster wrote, you >>DO<< realize he had no better record than Dave Shula before him, right? 6-6, IIRC. Yep ... fantastic, real bowl-season there. So, he turned around exactly ... what againPot, meet kettle. Dealing with you should >ought< to cause one to drink, but that's never been a problem I've had. One has a much easier time of highlighting the foolishness of idiots (such as I'm doing here) when soberDon't worry about me, Dr. Phil. I'll be just fine, especially if you keep tossing crud at walls like this to remind everyoneHey ... >>you< < said it, not any of us. (Though I'm sure you'll forget by your very next opportunity to vom ... er, post here. (Dec 22, 2007 | post #105)
Huizenga: Parcells has control over anything 'to do with football'
You'll have to explain how that makes your eyes "bad", because I'm not (pardon the pun) seeing it. You should try staring at computer screens for fifteen years, like me. At any rate, if your eyes are indeed such a problem, you should learn how to set your screen resolution to something larger. That >>should< < be easy enough for you to do. All capital letters is a sign of boorishness, poor netiquetteYou most certainly did ... to wit I reported it, and the folks who monitor these forii agree with me for it's no longer here. (I found this out when I went back to grab your original post to quite.) So be advised: Watch your languageI know it's hard for you, but deal with The Truth: As much as we'd like to take credit for it (because he IS scum), Saban left all on his own because he knew he has screwed up hugely here, and it's most certainly a case of "Good riddance." If you truly believe he's so all that and a bag of chips, why don't you try and persuade him to come you and your j-e-t-s? (Dec 22, 2007 | post #91)
