Car detailer finds way to give old headlights a new shine

I've used 3M fiberglass boat polish before and gotten the same results. $120 is insane for this service given the price of the do it yourself products out there.  (May 23, 2008 | post #8)

Aw, nutz!

This is not a vehicular safety of life issue that requires a law. Are they going to require that farmers set back their fences so that no one on the road can see bull or horse B@lls, or are they going to fine the farmer too? We're setting a dangerous precedent against freedom of speech / expression with this. After this passes it will be religious symbols next, you'll see.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #5)

Should guns be brought to work?

If I'm reading this right, the only people that will be allowed to keep weapons in their vehicles on company property are those that have a concealed carry permit. What's the problem? These aren't the people I'd worry about doing this. Chances are they've had weapons locked up in their cars on company property already and nobody even knows because CWP holders keep quiet about such things.  (Apr 9, 2008 | post #8)

Student arrested after camera rigged to zap others

If we were talking about an electrical outlet with almost limitless Amps available I'd say you're right, that would be harmful if not deadly. The fact is, something that uses batteries to charge a capacitor will give you a quick nasty bite and it's over, it not even considered dangerous because of the ultra low amperage. Incidentally, the same defense is used to justify taser use. You'd better pray an officer never decides to barb you with a taser and nail you with 50,000 (yes, fifty thousand) volts for 5 seconds. Having accidentally triggered a stun gun on my hand in my teen years I know what 50,000 volts feels like. I'll take the 600v prank cigarette lighter or fake camera any day, thank you very much. You know this country is slowly turning into a bunch of whiny bedwetters when an arrest for an old prank like this makes big news. It's not like he made a bomb trigger with it.  (Apr 4, 2008 | post #5)

Barge runs aground off Egmont Key

Wait, what? So it's OK to push around barges filled with 119,000 barrels of oil within a few miles of shore, and ground them on sand bars but we won't drill for oil in the gulf. Idiots.  (Apr 3, 2008 | post #1)

Student arrested after camera rigged to zap others

I'm waiting to see when they arrest kids for bringing that prank snapping gum to school. You know, the one where you pull out the stick and the little spring snaps down on your finger and scares you. Sorry but the flash capacitor in a disposable camera is not powerful enough to be considered a dangerous weapon. The shock would be a momentary one at that, not like from a Taser not to mention much weaker at a momentary 600v vs. the Taser at 50,000v. It was no more dangerous than those prank cigarette lighters that zap your hand. This country is going to hell, bit-by-bit.  (Apr 3, 2008 | post #1)

Should these kids be able to play?

I like how they have the Publix logo right on the bottom of the letter, obviously a major sponsor. I wonder what Publix thinks about this? As a sponsor I'm sure they never expected to be connected with a youth soccer league scandal when they agreed to be sponsors. http://www.tampaba ys10.com/images/pd fs/Soccer-Letter.p df  (Mar 26, 2008 | post #25)

Should these kids be able to play?

Yes, they should be allowed to play. This is an organizational mismanagement issue not a player issue. It's youth soccer, not youth bookkeeping. This type of high drama is precisely the reason why I never permitted my kids to participate in any sports activities sanctioned by youth leagues of any kind. This is unbelieveable, the person that made the mistake contacted the club office about it immediately, and they tell her, "too bad, the mistake has been made". Now the kids are getting punished over a mistake someone else made and tried to correct! Way to go FYSA make Florida proud.  (Mar 26, 2008 | post #17)

Lutz man with tourettes threatened by Wal-Mart employee, he claims

Is this the Wal-Mart on 54 in Land O'Lakes? The place needs to be overhauled by corporate. It's always a shambles, always skids and boxes in the way. The employees I've directly dealt with seemed to be OK, but the store is definitely in need of a management change especially if this is the store that did this to Mr. Pierce. It could be a much better store than it is currently.  (Mar 4, 2008 | post #18)
