Adam Lambert Defends His Raunchy AMAs Performance

Then why is the show Brothers and Sisters (boasts a pretty strong story line with the gay brother and his marraige... and now... GASP!!! they are looking to adopt! heaven help the fragil mindest of the TV viewers who might see same sex relationships as being the same as heterosexual ones!) still going pretty strong? I think you really like to see your words in print and you'll type anything just to get that satisfaction. Just a hunch.  (11 hrs ago | post #87)

ABC? Big family audience? This is the same network that airs Desperate Housewives. Grey's Anatomy. Ugly Betty. Oh, and let's not forget Brothers and Sisters which highlights an intimate, same-sex marraige. So... something you seem to be missing. It has a bigger "family" audience... as in "gays". and furthermore... about them AMA's... for all the parents who let their kids watch... really? They didn't expect there could be some questionable performances by Eminem, Rhianna, Lady GaGa? Please! Adam Lambert kissed a guy. Eminem raps about killing them. Hmmm... wonderful message for our children. Yay!  (14 hrs ago | post #79)

as a joke, it seems... you straight-nit-wits use it to describe everything that is wrong with society until it points out something that you do and then you are like... "no, that's old testament" LOL. Loser.  (14 hrs ago | post #77)

So, because her music has translated into sales it is suddenly good? Brittney Spears dominated music charts, broke records... and there is hardly any contest to the fact that her music isn't "good". See also the Spice Girls. (Love both of these artists but not because they are heavy hitting contributions to the "good" music landscape!) It is trashy fun, sure. But good? Sales only means longevity for a performer, but little dips here and there don't neccessarily mean the end of a career. See Madonna and her "American Life" album... that thing tanked big time yet she rebounded. Safe sells, I agree. (so does sex... Adam may not sell big with the straights but I'm sure he'll have quite a few gay people clamoring to buy his album... and the gay consumer numbers shouldn't be counted out) But just because safe sells does not mean that it is good. And you are blind to not see that her album sales jumped drastically in part to Kanye's little out burst! One thing sells more than playing it safe and that is controversy. It just depends on if that controvery will cast the artist in a good light or not. Let me take you back to Sheryl Crow and her second album... y'know the one that got banned from Wal-Mart because she name dropped them in a song about violence. such controversy managed to work in her favor. But all this really detracts from my point. An artist who plays it safe does not instantly equate to "good" music. Sales maybe. But earning the cash should not be that final validation of whether an artist's vision is good or not. To close out: Kelly Clarkson took a creative risk with "My December" which was not safe, and while I feel that is by far her best album, it tanked in sales. I tend to think that creativity and playing it safe are at opposite ends of the creative field. Some make music to make music and others make music to make money.  (Tuesday | post #20)

which is an indication that most american's have a music taste that is sterile! Or they were just casting sympthay votes from her huge upset with Kanye. I doubt Lady GaGa is going to see a decline in her record and ticket sales. Fallout from Adam's performance remains to be seen. I know it didn't stop me from buying his album but, speaking for myself, I have taste and like my music shaken... and alive. You won't see a Taylor Swift CD in my collection. I'll let the vanilla music lovers flock to her with adoration.  (Tuesday | post #11)

Adam Lambert Brings His Sexuality To The AMA'S

forgive me for pointing this out... but, hun, the entertainment industry had already been scrapping the bottom of the barrell of indecency loooooong before this performance came along. stop trying to pin all the weight of the industries shadiness on Adam's back. He contributes but he is not the whole! And yes, this is a double standard kind of thing. People get upset over seeing such displays of sexuality (simulated, most of it... the kiss was probably real, unless a prosthetic tongue and man was used...) but mostly have no problem watching people get shot or murdered in drama shows. I think it really says something about the American culture when sexuality gets ragged on heavier than violence. And yes, the performance did feature acts of sexuality that tie in with violence... but most of the heat isn't really directed at that. The aim is squarely on how Adam is boasting his sexuality... something I'm suprised no one has linked to that open letter from OUT magazine's editor.  (Tuesday | post #29)

It was entertainment! pure and simple. It wasn't the best performance but it was entertaining. He cannot be labeled dull, that's for sure! People are just stuck up in their little worlds that sexuality should be shielded from everyone... funny that we can watch a character get shot in the forehead on TV and no uproar comes from that. Violence is ok I suppose, but sexuality... OMG that is just WRONG! This dizzied frenzy that is forming over this makes me want to move back to Germany where a performance like this would have been conisdered quite tame!  (Tuesday | post #6)

My friend, you have been duped. These "posters " are not who they claim to be. They are simply wanna-be-shock-joc ks who are doing their damnest to get a rise out of someone and you are taking the bait. Iggnore the immature punks and they'll either go away or whither into unimportance.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #100)
