This tax is the wrong answer to a legit question. Thanks to tax optimisation very high incomes pay less (in percentage) than the reasonably well off and the taw would have a marginal impact. Slashing the fiscal niches (unpleasant job where you have to fight both lobbies and the Bercy admiistration who does not want its power curbed). A couple of finance ministers tried none succeeded - many say Bercy helped them to fail (Wednesday May 22 | post #20)
I would not count Sardou as an opinion leader.. old reactionnary who espoused any topics of the time in his songs int he most unimaginative fashion... I beg not to have to comment on Depardieu (not shooting on ambulances) As the world is growing more and more like one big place, young people who have understood this do not hesitate to move across countries for jobs or a place to live the way their forefathers would have moved to the nearest city/region. My niece is going to spend her next term in a US university (part of her curricumum, a friend of hers spent her year out as an intern in Sweden)etc. Ihis is not an evolution I'd complain about (This must sound terrible to your insulary ears, my apologies...). Les Miserables: Gloomy French must copy English
Meaning students are bound to have private means or turn to lucrative careers afterwardsvto repay the loan. This kind of short sighted view will deprive the country of people like fundamental scientists (never pays off), designers and artists (does not systematically pay off), which have made the reputation of British universitie worldwide. Or reserve this field to youngsters whose mum and dad can pay anyway - no guarantee for talent. I just wish French universities were not so shy about admission boards for undergraduates, they are doing everybody a disservice. (Wednesday May 1 | post #97)

search for La'Com or Guernalec family, Orly France
Guernalec being a typically Breton name, you have more than a few chances of discovering relatives there. The phone books still gives one Guernalec in Athis-Mons(very close to Orly) The easiest way to identify any relatives is to contact the Etat civil of the town she was born. From her bierth certificate, you should be able to get the full name of her parents and then hopefully her brother's if he was born in the same place. Good luck to you (Apr 23, 2013 | post #2)

Why are the French drinking less wine?
What really determines the quality of the wine is the classification "premier cru" "second cru", which corresponds to a very precise set of specifications (and price league for the wine). and this is what you have to look for on the label. It is a bizantine set of denominations, and I would not be against a regular overhaul on the question. Also some top winemakers simply let the denomination drop to make their own wines. A bit like Michelin stars, if you want them you have to cook according to Michelin specifications, some chefs/winemakers are just as great but don't want to be bothered The name "chateau " is used by all the top Bordeaux houses but also by many crappy ones, as well as the "mis en bouteille au chateau'. In both cases, necessary but not sufficient as a guarantee (you can find some chateau XY "mis en bouteille au chateau" for less that 3-4 euros in the supermarket but it would be a good idea to buy something else) My point was that anglo-Saxon see only Bordeaux in French wines when Bordeaux is only one of our wine producing regions. Bordeaux producers tend to think the universe revolves around their navel, quite few people here beg to differ (Apr 16, 2013 | post #32)
