What is equally interesting is now Windows 7 has arrived? Internet Explorer 8 doesn't seem to want to deal with Windows 7 either. It keeps shutting down and running away. Have to love Microsoft's own compatibility issues. (Nov 8, 2009 | post #8)
Yep, the demand from customers asking if there is anyway to return to IE 7 or in many cases IE6 is amazing. Better yet, forget Microsoft altogether and go with Firefox from Mozilla. (Aug 27, 2009 | post #5)
Teen Saves iPod From Onrushing Truck, Gets Hit Herself
Ipods are not worth losing one's life over. We rely on our technologies but what good would they do us on the otherside. People need to think about what they do. We may be The Tech Angels of New Rochelle but we enjoy living more than we enjoy our gadgets. (May 25, 2009 | post #35)
Sounds like a Freudian slip if I ever heard one. (Feb 13, 2009 | post #3)
Of course, anything good and popular will eventually be exploited unfortunately. We have a twitter page for our company and each of us have one. We find it very useful. But as the users find it useful brings evildoers attempting to exploit loopholes. (Jan 3, 2009 | post #1)
Dell triples Windows XP downgrade tax to $150
So ridiculous when we can get Windows XP (a new version) for less than that. (Jan 3, 2009 | post #7)
We have converted to suggesting VLC player as well. We find it much more useful and doesn't have the ads (sometimes objectionable music and programming) that come through on Windows Media Player on startup. (Jan 3, 2009 | post #9)
We are exploring Gimp at school. But I had not yet heard about Songbird. I run their thunderbird. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the tip. (Dec 30, 2008 | post #6)
Lot's of discussion takes place regarding the Open Source Operating Systems but what about the application software pieces. Lately we've been discovering the benefits of Open Office (Writer/Impress/Ca lc), InfraRecorder (CD burner software), and Audacity (Audio editing). Many of our customers ask for cost effective solutions for productivity. It doesn't get much better than free and quite effective. Have you explored any effective Open Source Applications lately? Want to buy a space shuttle? It'll cost you $42M
Why buy one when you probably build a better one for less? Yes it wouldn't be official. Shocked by an article we read. http://www.popular mechanics.com/scie nce/air_space/4288 705.html. The computers on board the shuttles are terribly updated. Why buy old when you can build new? (Dec 20, 2008 | post #48)
PC Magazine's Print Edition Folds
I do miss the feel of curling up on the couch and reading a good mag that would enlighten me and better prepare me for my job. However, in recent years, I admit, I curl up with my laptop more often. Between my environmentalist ideals and the cost expenditure for the magazine purchase itself, I've long since moved to the digital realm for most magazines/journals. Most days I would rather convert something to a PDF and save it on my computer than tear out an article that I will only lose and become upset. (Nov 21, 2008 | post #2)
Going solar? Seven sites map your plans
Brent, you can find the sites they were talking about in the full article link they posted "Full Story: news.cnet.com ". Thanks for posting this. A colleague of ours just asked me about solar energy for their condo complex. I carry a solar panel in purse for my cell phone. (not kidding) And I love it. So I told her to check it out for the building. I can only imagine larger would power even better than my phone charger and solar slave. (Nov 21, 2008 | post #2)
