Why are people in the Triad so redneck?
Very insightful, InoALSO! :-) (Jul 8, 2009 | post #9)
Why are people in the Triad so redneck?
I'm sorry you're finding your portion of the Triad to be very prejudiced, Tan is Grand. Maybe you should check out another area, for we're not all like that! I can especially speak for those of us in Lewisville, NC (in western Forsyth County). Lewisville is a small town of diverse population with a focus on community. The Town of Lewisville sponsors events throughout the summer, in particular, that bring folks together in Shallowford Square, our town square. We just finished our "Beach Blast" celebration this past weekend, preceded by two weekends of free outdoor theatre. Our library is also a great, new facility that offers lots of programs for all ages and interests. Feel free to check out my website, http://LewisvilleP hotos.com, for scenes of our diverse activities. The website is a photo blog through which I chronicle the life and people of Lewisville. It's my labor of love. Cheers, Deb (Jun 23, 2009 | post #4)
Yadkin Riverkeeper supports State Trust Concept for river
Hmmm, I live near the Yadkin River. I wasn't aware of such dealings in the works regarding the river. I'll have to check into this matter further. At the moment I'm not sure which side represents the best interests of the river and those who live in the nearby communities. (Mar 28, 2009 | post #2)
It's obvious that 2FarGone2Care really does need to move elsewhere if he or she is not happy in Forsyth County. However, since the population in western Forsyth continues to rise, we must be doing something right. Those of us who live in Lewisville know first-hand what a special community it is. In fact, if you'll take a look at the website, www.LewisvillePhot os.com, you'll see photos and stories demonstrating that life in Lewisville is a broad spectrum of race, age, and interests. Lewisville is the perfect community to raise a family in or to retire in, particularly due to the range of activities offered, many of them taking place regularly in our beautiful town square, Shallowford Square. Blacks, Hispanics, whites, etc. enjoy life in Lewisville. I know them, I meet them, I talk to them. If you have any questions about Lewisville, just ask me! I grew up in Lewisville, moved away, and returned. I love living in Lewisville. (Mar 15, 2009 | post #28)
Yes, I saw that, Kim! Whenever the date's announced, I'll plan to be there (if there's not a conflict with my schedule) and will cover the event for my blog. If I'm there, I'll look for you! (Mar 5, 2009 | post #10)
Wow, Kim! I'm sorry to hear about the litter problem in Lewisville. I just hadn't noticed it. (Guess I'm too busy.) I'm glad to hear that your email to the Town Council was well received. That's encouraging, and I'm glad they're planning to have a clean-up day. I'll look for info on it. Maybe I'll see you there. Meanwhile, if I see a girl out walking her Pug, I'll try to stop and take your photo! (Feb 26, 2009 | post #7)
What your favorite comic strip?
Mutts -- I love those little critters! (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)
Do you have a Southern accent? If so, do you like it?!
I probably do a little, although it's been toned down a lot, because I lived out of state for about six years. For some strange reason, when I moved away (to a non-Southern state), I was able to "hear myself" for the first time! I got teased so much that I consciously altered my accent! If you're a bona fide Southerner, what your favorite Southern food?
Sometimes...I have to admit that I really have a hankering for a fatback biscuit! I know! It's very bad for you! Oh, yeah, and then there' milk gravy, and....I could keep going for awhile! (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)

The people of Lewisville enjoy being with each other, and genuinely care for each other. Our town incorporated in order to guard and foster the special richness of life that exists in our small but vibrant town. (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)
If you're a transplant to Lewisville, where did you move from?
I was born and raised in Lewisville myself, but I like learning where others have come from. (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)
What's your favorite community event in Lewisville, NC?
I really enjoy the outdoor dramas put on by the West Side Civic Theatre that are held at Shallowford Square. It's such a beautiful setting, and the quality of the dramas are excellent. And...they're absolutely free! (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)
Your Favorite Place in Lewisville, NC?
One of my favorite scenic spots in Lewisville is along Conrad Road. Especially in the fall, the stately maple trees, with their autumn covering, are glorious. (Feb 10, 2009 | post #1)
