Thank God the election is over !

Man you guys live in such a bubble! For 4 years you have been screaming doom and gloom and that the end of America is coming. It hasn't come yet. You need to put on your big girl panties and just deal with the fact that he won last time and the world didn't end and the same is true this time. America will survive and thrive for years to come. Get over yourselves. This President is not the guy he is portrayed as by the right.  (Nov 7, 2012 | post #5)

Why should I vote for Obama?

So oddly quiet from the usual rogues gallery that inhabits these boards. I guess they are still trying to figure out how math got the better of them! Congratulations to the President of the United States of America! In case anyone missed it...his name is Barack Hussein Obama!  (Nov 6, 2012 | post #114)

Nope. Still two debates left. I think the first debate was a throw-away by the President. He didn't go after Romney. My honest belief is that the Obama team chose to play a "prevent defense" in the first debate. There were so many openings for Obama to really hit back at Romney and he passed them up every time. I think the goal was to feed rope to Mitt and hope he hanged himself with it. He didn't. He actually performed well and avoided major missteps. I think the Obama team is playing the long game and keeping Obama reigned in on the first debate was part of the overall strategy. We will see though..two more debates to go!  (Oct 15, 2012 | post #25)

Only to those who were rooting for Ryan to win. To me he seemed more sincere, more knowledgeable, and less practiced and rehearsed, he seemed like a genuine person having an argument in which he thinks the opposite side is using half-truths, mistatements, and obfuscations to avoid answering direct questions. He seemed amused at the ridiculous antics of a rehearsed candidate trying to stick to a predetermined set of talking points regardless of the pointed questions he was asked. Ryan avoidances... BIDEN to RYAN: Can you guarantee that no person under 250,000 will see a reduction to their mortgage deduction? RYAN: Lots of words but no guarantee and no answer. MODERATOR to RYAN: Does your tax plan have any details or are you still figuring those out? RYAN: Lots of words about frameworks, Ronald Reagan, Tip O'Neil, bipartisan efforts, etc...No real answer. The correct answer was. No! We don't have details, just talking points... BIDEN to RYAN: What would you do differently in Syria? RYAN: Lots of words about the UN, Russia, and allies. Did not answer the direct question. I know you like Ryan. I know you are team Romney but are you seriously blind to the fact that neither he nor Romney EVER actually answer any question with any level of details about their plans? Are you totally ignoring the fact that the Romney campaign has moved to a much more centrist position in recent weeks after months of far right conservative stances? I mean I get that it is the nature of politicians to say whatever will get them elected but are there literally no limits left? Do we no longer care at all whether a politiician changes his stances with every new days dawning? Say what you will about Obama, he at elast is ideologically consistent. He rarely waivers from his core fundamental beliefs about the role that government can and should play. He is always on the side that says government can and should provide the basic frameworks that allow liberty to prosper and thrive. It is called integrity and it is the one thing that Mitt Romney lacks as a political leader. He will only stick to a viewpoint for as long as it is politically expedient to do so. How can you trust a man with the highest office in this nation when you have NO IDEA what his plans are because he won't tell them to you!  (Oct 12, 2012 | post #317)

I will probably tune into them for at least part. I can only withstand so much politispeak before I just get pissed and tune out though. I seriously doubt we will hear anything new or any inforamtion we haven't heard these guys say a thousand times before. Mostly I will watch to see if Romney can come off as a real person with real ideas. That is the only chance he has left. He has to connect with people. I think this debate will be all about Romney. Obama, I am betting, is just going to play it safe and try not to screw himself. Romney is in the position of having to make a big showing tonight and has to come out with guns blazing. Obama is in the position of being able to just stand by and hope Romney makes a huge mistake. The rest of this election is all about calculations. The ideology part is over. This is now just a numbers game. Watch it from that perspective and it might be more enjoyable. View it as verbal sparring and watch how deftly Obama works. Can Mitt overcome Obama's debate skills. This is all academic now. Forget the parties, forget the isdeologies, watch it for what it is...blood sport! Oh..and flip between Fox and MSNBC...take notice of how the candidates are filmed by the respective networks, watch how they are lighted, even how they sound. I bet that on Fox you will notice Obama looks darker, is filmed from bad angles, and is harder to hear. Mitt will look better have better angles and his voice will carry better. The exact opposite will be true on MSNBC... Fun stuff to watch if you can seperate from it and watch it for the mindf*ck it is!  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #189)

Why should I vote for Obama?

I stand on the side of reason and logic! By the way Good and Evil are largely religious ideas. They are notions which try to define the acts of mankind. They are useful in the sense of adjectives to describe actions but they are not real forces that operate in the universe. There is no invisible force of good and no pervasive force of evil. There are simply a group of societal values that most, but not all, humans agree about. Society defines and redefines what things are good and evil all the time.  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #103)

You are wasting your time with this moron. Blondie clearly does not have very strong critical thinking skills or any actual knowledge about politics, government, or public policies. Blondie is the liberal version of the most rabid Fox News-only viewer. She clearly has no understanding of the actual issues. She just regurgitates things she has heard. Sadly she is supporting my side (so poorly it makes me ashamed to know we share any commonality) but I, unlike most political ideologues, recognize STUPID even when they are on my team!  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #187)

Why should I vote for Obama?

Oh no! A Christian see the signs of the coming Apocalypse! Everybody panic! The sky is falling the sky is falling! A religious zealot has looked at vague and crytically written prophecy from a religious manual and sees correlations between it and the real world. Whatever shall we do! This is the first time in recorded history that someone has seen the signs! It must be fact!  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #101)

Why should I vote for Obama?

Oh. Ok. I get it. Obama is simply the figurehead of the worldwide conspiracy of bankers to subjugate the populace through the use of Central Banks. So which group is he a part of...is it Bilderberg, Red Shield, the Illuminati, the Masons... Which school of conspiracy theory do you belong to? or are they all just jumbled into your head to where you just see a vague shadowy group pulling the strings to keep you down?  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #98)

Why should I vote for Obama?

Such a brilliant guy this Obama! Create all these social safety net programs so people can be dependent on government so he can become supreme ruler! He is a genius! I mean he had to begin working on all these things before he was born so that they would all culminate during his presidency. The careful planning he has undertaken since before being born is a sight to behold. Imagine all the work that it took to influence public policy for close to a quarter century and to time everything so that we would be embroiled in two foreign wars, have an economic collapse, and an entitlement system in place exactly at the time he was elected to the Presidency. It absolutely baffles the mind how he could have accomplished it all!  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #95)
