You are absolutely right! But it works both ways. How many owe McCain favors? Washington politics is a huge game where it takes these favors to get anything done. It's not that I don't want a Federal Government, I want less government. Honestly I think we all lose no matter who wins. We definitely need a change, but how much of a change? One candidate proposes too much change and the other not enough. (Wednesday Aug 6 | post #477)
Yeah Hansie, your right, 6 years in the Illinois senate and 3 years as a U.S. Senator makes Obama much more qualified than McCain with 20 years as a Naval Officer and 25 years in the House and Senate to run the country. (Wednesday Aug 6 | post #468)

Barack Obama held a private fundraiser/birthday party Monday in Boston that was expected to bring in close to $5 million at a reception for 850 people. About 250 people paid $15,000 each and $28,500 for a couple to dine with him afterward. Organizers say it was the biggest political fund-raiser ever in Boston. No public speech or meet and greet! Where is the outrage over that? (Wednesday Aug 6 | post #70)
War Against Terrorism: Winning or Losing?
That is a typical liberal Democrat tactic. They set up polls where the answers are unclear so they can spin the results to their liking and point of view. No matter which way you answer the results will back their talking points. The usual Lib Dem double talk! (Monday Aug 4 | post #4)
Save your breath Freedom. I know exactly who and what you are! You are an advocate of the Democrats employed to monitor these forums and blogs to identify individuals posting irrefutable facts perverting their cause and candidate. You then try to twist, turn, and spin those posts and attempt to discredit, ridicule, censure, or embarrass the person to the point where they may cease posting. Well that dog won't hunt with me missy. I may be narrow-minded, or close minded, but I'm not misguided. I do my own thinking and research and make decisions on what I ascertain, not on what I'm handed down. McCain may not be my ideal candidate but he, and his platform, is head and shoulder above what the alternate is offering, and believe me I have investigated the issues critical to me on either side unlike your sheep whom you are worried will take that stupid quiz, realize they are backing the wrong horse in the race, and switch sides. That's what your objection is, that's what got your panties all in an uproar. Why else would you so adamantly object to my link to that quiz? And if you truly believe you can convert me to liberalism, socialism, or Obamaism, or whatever you're calling the flavor of week, you're wasting your time and talents because you have as good a chance as I do trying to “Hannitize” you. So why don't you take your hidden agenda and try peddling it elsewhere because I'm not buying it and never will. I will also continue to report the facts, as I discover them, on this forum because I know the mainstream media is in the tank for Obama and won't. Like you established, people deserve the knowledge so they can make an intelligent and educated choice. If you dispute those facts I will back them up. I have just begun and nothing you say or do can stop me. As for your political philosophy, I could not care less, as all I know you are a conservative in sheep's clothing. You made a comment on the damage to our foreign relations, again, I could not care less. The opinions of Russia, France, Germany, Iran, or Korea are just that, and you know what they say about opinions. I have no doubt the majority of Americans thinks the same. If these "foreign relations" are so upset about it they can refuse our aid. When you enter that booth in November, you will pull the lever for whom you feel will do the better job. When I enter the booth I'll pull the lever for whom I think will do the better job. That's the distinction between you and me, you feel, I think. (Monday Aug 4 | post #434)

Speak up WNY????? That's where you get your news from??? No wonders you're such a twit! I bet you read tea leaves and Tarot cards too. Loser, RonnieWHO, same, same! (Saturday Aug 2 | post #652)
I bet you took the quiz and found your views to be very close to somebody you really don't care for so therefore you dismiss the issue and make claims that you don't need somebody else to tell you what you are. I took the quiz for the fun of it, not because I needed to know what I already knew. I scored much where I figured I would, maybe even a little lower. And yes, I prefer FOX NEWS over the other channels and not because of your claim that they are Conservative but because they more honestly reflect the reality I have personally witnessed or experienced through out my life. And yes, that is my opinion! I can be as openminded as anybody but when the mainstream media is closedminded and in the tank for for a certain candidate, I will post what I know they won't. The sheep are the ones that cannot or will not research on their own and take the word of the mainstream media talking heads, Hollywood types, and or some daytime talk show hosts trying to boost their ratings. Those are the people you should be addressing. So if you you don't like my cut & paste "garbage " why don't you try the Huffington Post, the Daily KOS, or Media Matters. I'm sure you'll find their postings more to your liking. Lighten up why don't you. (Saturday Aug 2 | post #424)
Ever wonder where your beliefs were on the LIBERAL versus CONSERVATIVE scale. Here is an easy way to find out by taking this short 25 question. The following quiz was written by Victor Kamber and Bradley S. O'Leary and appeared in the October 28-30, 1994 issue of USA Weekend. Before you vote in the next election, take this quick, quiz to see where - and with whom - you really stand. http://franz.org/q uiz.htm Answer the questions honestly and you may be surprised on where you fall on the scale, anywhere between Jesse Jackson and Ronald Reagan. I personally scored a 34. (Saturday Aug 2 | post #421)
Wesley Clark Trashes McCain's Military Service for Obama. Wesley Clark is one the most unscrupulous military leaders in the history of the United States. This from guy like Clark who was relieved of his NATO command due to incompetence. Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, a key military adviser for Barack Obama, dismissed John McCain’s war record as a qualification for readiness to be president. Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Clark downplayed the plane crash that led to McCain’s captivity during the Vietnam War, and said the squadron McCain commanded “wasn’t a wartime squadron.” "He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn’t held executive responsibility,” Clark said. Let's add that up folks. McCain: Squadron leader during Vietnam war, POW for 5 1/2, Senate Armed Services committee, traveled the world etc. etc., 25 years of service in the House and Senate. Obama: Community Activist, Illinois state Senator for 6 years, Absentee US Congressman because he started running for President shortly after winning a senate seat. Gee, who would be more capable in foreign policy and military matters? (Saturday Aug 2 | post #420)
Washington (CNSNews.com) – A top Iraqi official visited wounded American troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to thank them for their part in ending Saddam Hussein’s rule in his country. “We have come … to express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these great warriors, soldiers, in freeing the Iraqi people and in helping us in Iraq recover from tyranny and dictatorship,” Jawad Karim al-Bolani, Iraq’s minister of the interior, said through a translator to a handful of journalists in the lobby of the medical center. “We also want to express our gratitude to the families of all these great men and women and express how important their sacrifices are for our nation,” he added. Bolani’s visit with troops comes on the heels of Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) recent trip to the Middle East, where the Democratic presidential candidate caused a stir when he canceled a planned visit to wounded American soldiers. Presumptive GOP nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), whose campaign has just released a new television ad on the canceled visit, charged that Obama had “shunned” the troops. An Obama campaign spokesman denied the charge, saying the Illinois senator “did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perceived as a campaign event.” The Pentagon, meanwhile, said Obama was welcome to visit the troops – without his campaign entourage. The Iraqi government official, who didn’t mention presidential politics, said that he also wanted to visit Walter Reed because it was a “great institution.” “(We wanted) to witness firsthand the level of technical (and) medical sophistication that is being practiced here so that we may learn from it to help our foreign wounded and the many, many victims of terrorism and violence in Iraq,” Bolani added. CNSNews.com asked the minister if he supported a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. “I would like to talk about all the progress and all the improvements that have taken place throughout Iraq at the security level,” Bolani said, adding that Iraq still faces challenges in the future because of “regional considerations.” Although Bolani did not express support for a timeline, he said the Iraqi government is doing what “is necessary to be ready and to step up and to fulfill our requirements … for this transitional time.” In a response to a question from a Department of Defense official, Bolani tried to reassure Americans about the status of the Iraqi National Police. “Our national police in Iraq have demonstrated that it is very professional and has increased its performance level,” Bolani said. While at Walter Reed, Bolani visited soldiers at its Military Advanced Training Center, which provides physical therapy and counseling for troops who have lost limbs or the use of limbs. Saddam's general: 'WMDs were flown out of Iraq!' By Kevin McCullough Editor's note: The following is a partial transcript of Kevin McCullough's exclusive interview with Saddam Hussein's former Air-Wise Marshall Georges Sada. His former position rank was No. 2 in Iraqi military operations. In the following partial transcript, he reveals where and how the weapons of mass destruction were hidden from the liberation coalition forces before the Iraqi invasion. I believe the following words speak for themselves: Kevin McCullough: Gen. Georges Sada, welcome to the WMCA broadcast. Georges Sada: Thank you very much, Kevin. KMC: General, were there weapons of mass destruction ... what had Saddam Hussein done with them, and where did they go? GS: Well here I can say 2,000 times, that the WMDs were in Iraq, and that they were used against Kurds in the north, and people in the south against Shia people, and these weapons were there up to the summer of the year 2002. When a natural disaster happened in Syria, a dam was collapsed, and Saddam said he wanted to do an air-bridge humanitarian aid to Syrian people, those who were flooded in the area. But that was not true. The thing he did was, he converted two aircraft, two airplanes, a 747 Jumbo, and a 727 and WMDs, raw materials, many other equipment were put in that two aircraft, by the special Republican Guard, in a very secret way and they were transported to Syria to Damascus and they did 56 flights, to make all – whatever has to do with weapons of mass destruction to be in Syria. AND besides to that, 18-wheel tractor trucks, civilian trucks, were also loaded of what couldn't go in the aircraft, and this was also transported to Syria. KMC: You're saying 56 flights, 747s and 727s, transported – under the guise of humanitarian aid for victims of the dam break in Syria – Saddam Hussein transported his illegal weapons to Syria via that method, and also some 18-wheel trucks were also used in that effort? GS: That's TRUE! KMC: Let's talk about who you are ... what was your rank within the Saddam Hussein regime? GS: I was the air-wise marshall, in the Air Force, (second highest rank in the Iraqi military) and I was one of the people who did not attend the Baath Party. And that's why I was forced to retire in 1986. KMC: You were never a member of the Baath Party? GS: No never ... And they asked me in '86, it is not possible to be in this rank and second man in the air force and you are not a Baath Party. They said, "OK, if you will not attend the party then you will be retired." I said, "OK, let me retire." So I was retired in '86, but when Saddam invaded Kuwait on Aug. 2, 1990, I was the first man to be recalled again to join the active duty, by the regime, by Saddam and to be the adviser on the air force. Hansie, The CIA's "Comprehensiv e Report of the Special Advisor to the DCI on Iraq's WMD" by the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), also known as the "Duelfer Report", is the authority commonly cited to debunk the threat of WMD as an excuse to invade Iraq in 2003. The Duelfer Report admitted that dozens of chemical weapons actually were found, later determined to be more than 500, that the ISG did not search much of Iraq, that its sources were not reliable, that most suspected WMD sites had been looted or destroyed, that WMD could very well have been taken out of the country, that WMD programs could have been reconstituted and WMD produced quickly, and that Saddam Hussein intended to do exactly that shortly after he bribed enough countries using the "oil for food" program to drop the sanctions and inspection regime. Does that sound like "no threat" or "no evidence" to you? (Friday Aug 1 | post #415)
You might be a liberal if you think..... *We spend more on defense than we do on health care and other human services. *Our health care system is worse than other developed countries because the free market has failed and our government doesn't spend enough on health. *The rich pay less in taxes than the poor. *The U.S. is one of the worst offenders in producing global warming gases, and keeps on polluting while other countries are cutting back. *The biggest problem with Islamic terrorism is the resulting backlash against Muslims. *AIDS affects everyone equally, gay and straight. *We have high rates of rapes and sexual assault because of the availability of guns. *There was no good reason to invade Iraq in 2003, certainly not the threat of WMD. *More lives would be saved by making helmets mandatory for motorcycle riders than would be saved by making them mandatory for pedestrians or car drivers and passengers. *President Bush is stupid. Unfortunately, you'd be wrong on every point listed above, based on facts. (Friday Aug 1 | post #397)
