George a real pro vs. Joes in all reality
It's sad that Jeff took so long to mature and wore out his NFL welcome in the process. I'm sure he wishes for another chance to prove himself but the show is over. (Mar 19, 2008 | post #19)
Pacers' Bird unsure of his future
No team who cannot at least play above .500 should be allowed to participate in the playoffs. The spirit of the playoff format is clear this season in the Western Conference. Any appearance by the Pacers in the playoffs is only driven by revenue for the league. Indiana's best hope is a high lottery pick and a GM who will take Tinsley, JO, Williams or all three. (Mar 19, 2008 | post #152)
I appreciate the logic of your comments and want to believe that is true. Sadly, I must assert that the remainder of the league and Pacers fans have seen more than they want to. Tinsley has absolutely no value and JO's contract is too large to make him attractive. Any trade involving either would include a workout and physical. I disagree with the concept that any Pacers participation in the playoffs would be fruitless. The best we can hope for is a high lottery selection. (Mar 19, 2008 | post #19)
Your comments prove my point. Why bring someone in that you can't keep? You end up with nothing. Davis played for several more years and went further in the playoffs than we did. Rose did not decline until after he was traded. Jalen was a big part of the lineup. In either event, why trade for players that won't stay or can't be controlled? Jackson was available only because he wore out his welcome in San Antonio and then Atlanta! The bottom line is that we couldn't see what everyone else saw and now we suffer! (Mar 18, 2008 | post #87)
Pacers' Bird unsure of his future
Larry Bird's performance as GM does not dovetail with his demeanor as Pacers coach. He was not afraid to crack the whip, call players out and it was clear that he ran the show. The results spoke for themselves as he took us to the finals. Since then, it's as if he expects the players to behave simply because he is Larry Bird and they would not dare do anything else. I doubt that any of today's players ever saw him play and none of them were coached by him. If he cannot control them, they he should go. That was NOT the case when he was the coach. This is inconsistent and I'm sure that many Pacers fans do not understand. (Mar 18, 2008 | post #53)
Jason Kidd probably looks like the freakin' Mona Lisa after putting up with Jamal Tinsley!!! (Mar 17, 2008 | post #4)
Mr. Walsh has done a reasonable job for the Pacers and should receive a modest amount of credit. That said, he has also been regularly and repeatedly snookered by other GMs in trades. Those trades have been dismal failures. For that alone, he should be dismissed. What happened to the Pacers was a long time developing and can be traced directly to his trades, beginning with the Ron Artest deal and another that brought JO. He also brought in Stephen Jackson and virtually gave away Brad Miller and a then productive Jalen Rose. The decline of the Pacers has been a long time coming. It will take several years to remedy these current ills. (Mar 17, 2008 | post #26)
Seeding committee does IU no favors
After watching them lay down against Minnesota, IU was seeded accordingly. They have not played well for several games. (Mar 17, 2008 | post #83)

In the 1970s, a study was done of all the heroin addicts in NY. Almost 90% of them reported that the first thing they tried was marijuana. Step down, next case. (Mar 7, 2008 | post #74)

Pastors blast illegal immigration bill
Let those clergy and their churches who want us to embrace the illegal felons, fund all their care, food, housing, social services and medical care. Perhaps then their tune will change. When the illegals are returned to their homelands, then those churches who choose may spend their time and energy doing missionary service in their behalf. Let those who want to come to the US obey the laws of man, then seek to be embraced by the church. (Mar 6, 2008 | post #317)
