Where are the human rights activists when the violence is directed against the Border Patrol? {crickets chirping...} Does this mean that Border Patrol agents are inhuman, or that they are not as deserving of protection as the people who are attacking them? {Crickets chirping, the encore...} Seems oddly hypocritical to me, but such is generally the case with these types. It could just as easily be a chosen lifestyle identity thing completely unrelated to how they were raised. Look to Rap/Hip-Hop for the answers. What is the gauge for success? Da' Dolla'. How do they get it? Pimpin', slingin', boostin', etc... Who do they idolize, who do they emulate, who are the role-models? Don't get me wrong, Rap/Hip-Hop aren't exclusively to blame, there's plenty of negative stuff in just about every "social subculture", but it's not quite as flagrant as it is with Rap/Hip-Hop. Perhaps the introduction of Religion in schools is a bad idea. Look how badly the teachers and professors have skewed what they've got, are you sure you want that same bunch teaching any religion? The problem is a form or moral/ethical relativism that has crept into our society thinly guised in the form of "tolerance ". We're all taught that we have to be understanding of everything, that there are no obsolutes and that the beginning of a mutual understanding (and therefore a perfect society [Insert Voice of Choirs here...]) is respecting everyone's everything. The problem is that concepts like RIGHT and WRONG were tossed out like the baby with the bath water. Sure we have different opinions on the finer points, but there are certain things that we can all agree on regardless of the actual root source. Things like Stealing, Murder, Lying, etc etc etc. A society NEEDS a strong foundation of moral/ethics upon which to build a civil society, one that respects one's individual rights but also enforces individual responsibility. America is sorely lacking there, and it is showing itself in a general decrease in civility and politeness in the public. Children pick up by example what their parent(s) do and do not teach them. However strong outside influences may be, children will still be a reflection of the household that produced them...it's all a matter of the parent(s) being more attentive to a child than that child's exterior influences. I could be mistaken, but it could be because the city doesn't "own" the lake. The residents that "own" lakeshore properties are wholly responsible for cleanup on their properties, that's why it's called PRIVATE PROPERTY. It's all RACISM, Paul. Just like it's a conspiracy by Da' Man to keep people down by saying that "Yo, you want some fries which yer $*it, Dawg" does not qualify as "Customer Service." Yep, it's always the OTHER GUY'S fault for not being open-minded enough to hire guys who look like they're "...rollin' wit da G's..." as cashiers, or for not hiring people with police records into various "trust" positions in corporations. That's the problem with the "Take me as I am or STICK IT" Generation(s), they don't like the options that their own choices leave for them...so it's EVERYBODY ELSE'S FAULT. The self-fulfilling prophecy of the downward spiral, all the while shaking their fists in the faces of the one's they EXPECT to save them while being utterly unwilling to take advantage of the lifelines that are already out there.
