He took you lower in dose because MS-Contin only has 20% bio-availability. Morphine is weak when it's taken orally. IV it's awesome for pain but when you have pills they aren't nearly as effective. So what he did was protocol. He took you to a much better drug and brought you down to a respectable level so you wouldn't overdose and die. Now that you've had the change he needs to modify because for obvious reasons some people are different and meds work a different way. So my advice is when you go to see him on your next appt then tell him what you're experiencing and he will adjust to it accordingly i'm sure. Good luck  (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #1805)

Never start out with 8mg for one. The reason for this is because you run the risk of it becoming a full antagonist. Subs make the mu receptor fire much slower than what opie's do like heroin. With heroin being as fast acting it is they say 8 hours is minimum but what you need to do is start out with 4mg very very slow and ease into it. You're not going to feel much better but it's the start you need to continue your induction. After you have taken the 4mg see how you feel and go from there. I know myself because after doing high doses of oxy for a short stint i went back to subs. I waited 19 hours i took 4mg i was ok. Well i took another 4 and i threw up all over the place. I didn't feel that horrible but shakey. From there i waited 8 hours i took another 4mg and felt a bit better then again in another 8 i felt even MUCH better. From there then i did 8mg and this was after about 72 hours. You're gonna feel much much better at this point. You're gonna have the malaise from coming of the H but you won't be in total hell either. You're gonna pay a price no matter what if you had a huge habit. I'v never done H nor have i ever banged my pills so i don't know what high dose is as far as the injection method. Anyway keep doing your induction and eventually you're going to feel better i promise you. Here's a link to a guide about having a huge habit and moving to suboxone. People fail because they think subs wont work for them but it will you just have to keep going and expect that it's not gonna make you feel like a million dollars right off the bat. GREAT WORK! I am glad thaty you were finally able to find your middle point. Suboxone is a great drug to make you really put things in perspective after being on a long road with pain meds. I myself from time to time go off and take subs as a release to it and use it for a kind of reminder to keep me flying straight when i really start using up my pain meds. After that my tolerance is down again and i am level once more. It's kind of crazy i know but for me it works and thats all that matters. With your chemo i wish you all the luck to get your health back. I don't think i will ever elect chemo if i'm found to have cancer because it only seems to accelerate an end to people and i don't think the hell involved with it is really worth it because you eventually wind up in the same place. Zen listen to Jules and Hitme too they have tons of great advice. They care and won't judge you. Good luck and i am here for advice too if need be as i have experience with both Sub and Hardcore pain meds. Not proud to say but i've been up into the 800mg a day Oxy habit and subs really do a lot of good to kick that beast in the ass per sey. LoL  (Sunday Nov 8 | post #412)

Yep when you're a user you know these things. I have no insurance and paid cash for my Oxycontin so when the Generics get far and few between when the pharmacies can get some from their supplier it was welcomed. But Courtneey hit it right on. They stockpiled a ton of the generic before the i believe July 13, 2009 Termination date for Alternate lab production of oxycontin agreement went into effect. Be as sure as the sun rises tommorow that generic supply your gma gets is going to run dry and he'll pay the premium that perdue wants for em. Oh i never argued about the Oxycodone being instant and Oxycontin being ER. Roxicodone = Name brand from Roxanne Labs Oxycodone = Generic Form of Roxicodone manufactured from serveral labs. Oxycontin - Perdue labs name brand only one available now because Perdue sued the other drug labs for infringment and taking from their pot of money so they won't be able to offer genenric untin 2013 and then i am sure perdue will be prepared to make sure they will stop them again so they will have the monopoly on them. Looking for a legit CHEAP online source for Oxy's

He refuses to write seperate scripts. Update anyway. I qualified for the Perdue Paitient Assistance Program. Now i get my meds for 25 a month. I overnight my script the day i get it and about 4 to 7 days later i get a fedex pack back with my meds. Very helpful. Anyone in a lower income bracket on Oxy that needs help go to the perdue website and type in PAP and that will get you where you need to be. I get a 730 dollar script free per month. I am very happy that you're here and very happy that you have the knowledge, strength and will to continue on your path without opie's I didn't want to sound like i was coming off harsh or something just wanted to touch base with ya after the comment ya made i got the idea you thought i was a rec user not a PMP but i stop and go. I went the suboxone route and tried it a short time because i was sick of popping pills. Eventually i told myself why am i still in pain and changed to another leash when i could stay painless on other meds. So i went back. I fear with the Oxy and Roxy regimen i am on now if i were to quit i would be in that 10 day spot you were in. I must say it took a lot of guts and courage for you to go through that and i would hug you if i could.
