Meth lab discovered next to Lenoir City Elementary School
If what you said were true, then they would of lived next to the LC Middle School and LC High School. Not an Elementary school. Most K-5th graders probably don't have the milk money to purchase drugs. It's like saying a Bible printer would probably set up shop next to a big church cause that's where his customers are. Guess you've never bought anything that was made somewhere else and shipped to a location near you, moron. Religion also has no place in school. Would you want your kids to be taught Satanism, Wiccan, or Islam at school? Those are all valid recognized religions here in the US. Maybe our kids should all say a prayer to the Invisible Pink Unicorn or the Flying Spaghetti Monster in the mornings. Freedom of Religion gives us the personal choice to choose our religion and what we teach our children is our choice. A mixed religion couple can choose which religion to raise the kids in. Once a government starts enforcing it religious choice upon it's citizens then you lose that Freedom of Religion. Look at Saudi Arabia, it's a Muslim nation, all of it's laws are directly taken from the Koran. It's illegal to worship any other religion. Is that how you think America should be? Racism as a Conservative viewpoint. Well history supports that claim. Conservative Baptists in the South were opposed to the Liberal Baptists in the North regarding Slavery. Conservatives' were opposed to the Civil Rights movement. Conservatives were opposed to the woman's lib movement. The Southern Baptist organization was formed in 1845 because of Slavery (they supported it), a survey in 1968 showed that less than 11% of SBC churches would allow African-Americans in their congregation, and in 1955 they formally apologized for their support of Slavery. Another well-known conservative Baptists group in America is the KKK. I dare you to find one Liberal or non-Christian Klan member. So I'm proud of my Liberal political viewpoint, because I believe everyone was created equal and should be treated equally. In your words, "Finally, I read that "racism is still a conservative viewpoint." Once again, another falsehood that supports one's view point when they have nothing else to base it on." Another falsehood with nothing to base it on, well luckily, I can easily pull up the info and provide historical evidence that supports my viewpoint. What is missing is any evidence on your part to disprove my FACTS. So before you accuse someone of lying or making stuff up, get some facts together to support your claim, or keep looking stupid and making a fool of yourself. Now I'll provide a falsehood based on my own viewpoint. "Mr Tired of his Mouth" is a Rhodes Scholar, with a direct line from God who provides him and him only with the TRUTH." There, feel free to disprove that one, because I've no facts to the contrary. I'm just pulling it out my butt like you do. (Oct 12, 2009 | post #32)
Considering this thread was based on the Conservative Bible Project, and it includes a link to the actual site, then how you can construe that to be a falsehood. The facts are there, he didn't make it up, and he provides proof of the issue. Now if it's a falsehood, provide us with the TRUTH from a reputable source. Since you seem to think your smarter than Mr Webb is, surely you can find it. And if you can't, then stop making false accusations. Just because you don't agree with someone's viewpoint, doesn't make it false. Now if you feel so strongly that you and you alone know the truth, then back it up with some shred of evidence. Just because you have faith in something being true, doesn't make it true. A child may believe that Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the tooth fairy are all true. But once he's provided the facts, that they are just imaginary beings, then he knows the truth. So quit telling us that Santa exists, unless you can back it up. (Oct 12, 2009 | post #31)
Personally I think Mr Webb's post are well written, articulate, and informative. I found the conservative bible project to be a nice bit of humor. I'm waiting for the liberal bible project to start, to dispute the bible's conservative viewpoints, lol. It's no surprise actually to hear of an attempt to re-write the bible to fit someone's viewpoint. Conservative Christians frequently referred to the bible in support of Slavery just before the Civil War. Conservative Christians also opposed the Civil Rights movement. The KKK is a Conservative Christian organization. If you want to fault the Liberals for something, you can blame them for Equal Opportunity, or Woman's lib. And judging by some of the posts regarding our current President, apparently Racism is still a Conservative viewpoint. (Oct 11, 2009 | post #28)
Currently the only government run health care system is the Veteran's Administration. It works, though with some problems, mainly being not enough facilities/staff to serve all veterans. Other countries in the world do have health care systems in place and they also work. When I was stationed in Germany, the Germans I knew were happy with their health care system. Everyone was taken care of regardless of financial status. Most of the negative PR about the universal health care system is coming from the ones who have $$$ to lose, namely the insurance companies. They stand to lose the most and are spending lots of money on PR to stir the public against it. Insurance companies are IMHO nothing but rip-off companies. They want your money, but don't want to pay it out. They get laws passed to insure that every motorist has to have auto insurance. My last car had a book value of $300-500. My deductible was $500, and the cost of liability was $600 a year. So if I totaled my car, I'd get nothing out of it, since it was less than my deductible. Now in the 5 years I had the car, I had zero claims. Did I get any of that money back? Now wouldn't that money have been more profitable in my pocket drawing interest in a bank, yes. But instead it to make a profit for the insurance company. Same with health care, how many pay for it and don't get their monies worth? How many with pre-existing medical conditions, get denied for coverage? Why does the hospital's and doctors charge you one price for cash and yet have to charge a higher price if it goes to an insurance carrier? Why do insurance companies hire people who's job is to find existing policies flaw's so they can drop the individual. If you failed to mention you had Acne as a teen, they can and have dropped people for that. Usually just before or right after a major medical procedure which would cost the insurance company. Health-care should be one thing that is not PROFIT driven. I agree doctors should be paid well, but hell we only pay our EMT's around $9-10 an hour, and they are a first-responder who's critical in making sure the patient survives long enough to see a doctor. So complain about universal health care if you want, at least the current administration is attempting to make it a reality unlike previous administrations, that make a token attempt at reform just to say they tried. Statistics show gun crimes in Loudon County low
I'd like to see a violent crime registry much like the sex offender one. I'd like to know if my neighbor has a history of violence. While we're at it, how about special license plates for DUI offenders so I know to watch out for them on the roads, lol. (Sep 19, 2009 | post #2)

Calling an "Illegal Alien" an "Undocumented Worker" is like calling a "Drug Dealer" an "Unlicensed Pharmacist" . (Sep 10, 2009 | post #70)
From the CDC's website. There is no known risk of HIV transmission to co-workers, clients, or consumers from contact in industries such as food-service establishments. Food-service workers known to be infected with HIV need not be restricted from work unless they have other infections or illnesses (such as diarrhea or hepatitis A) for which any food-service worker, regardless of HIV infection status, should be restricted. Even if a fast food worker has Aids, are they required legally to report it? I don't know. They can't be denied a job because of it, just like they can't be denied a job based on race. I also cannot find anything that say's a business is required to post up a sign saying that an employee of the establishment has Aids. Should a business post such a sign, couldn't that be construed as harassment and make the business a target of a lawsuit. (Aug 16, 2009 | post #12)
Don't know about the statistics either. Most agencies (TBI included) only break race down as White/African American/Asian/Oth er. Even the Department of Justice's website statistics fail to list Hispanics as a race. According to the TBI Crime in TN 2007 report, Crimes against Persons, African Americans 36.1%, White 62.9%, Asian 0.03%, Native American 0.01%, Unknown 0.5%. So which group contains Hispanics? Hispanic's are grouped into the "white" race category. Which is kinda discriminatory if you think about it. (Aug 14, 2009 | post #52)
Tenn. court ends state tax on illegal drugs
One acre of hemp can produce as much paper as 4 to 10 acres of trees over a 20-year cycle, but hemp stalks only take four months to mature, whereas trees take 20 to 80 years. There have been two periods with high homicide rates in U.S. history, the 1920-1934 period and the 1970-1990 period (Friedman 1991). Both before the first episode and between these two episodes, homicide rates were relatively low or clearly declining. Prima facie, this pattern is consistent with the hypothesis that alcohol prohibition increased violent crime: homicide rates are high in the 1920-1933 period, when constitutional prohibition of alcohol was in effect; the homicide rate drops quickly after 1933, when Prohibition was repealed; and the homicide rate remains low for a substantial period thereafter. Further, the homicide rate is low during the 1950s and early 1960s, when drug prohibition was in existence but not vigorously enforced, but high in the 1970-1990 period, when drug prohibition was enforced to a relatively stringent degree (Miron 1999) A study by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University confirms what many criminologists have long known: alcohol is associated with more violent crime than any illegal drug, including crack, cocaine, and heroin. Twenty-one percent of violent felons in state prisons committed their crimes while under the influence of alcohol alone. (Jul 31, 2009 | post #7)
Tenn. court ends state tax on illegal drugs
True, crime will not completely go away, you moron. But take away a business's income (any business) and it'll go out of business whether they want to or not. I mean they legalized alcohol and we sure do have alot of people making their own moonshine and all them Nascar drivers are really running shine in their off hours. Oh wait, that's just your imagination. Silly me subscribing to your viewpoint that once something is legal, the criminal element is still around. That's why Nevada has such a problem with prostitutes all over the streets of Vegas, oh no wait they don't have a problem cause it's legal within the state but not within Las Vegas. Sure they still have call girls, but not hookers on street corners. So the crime isn't gone, but it sure is alot better than whores on the street corners, pimps carrying guns and beating johns. And sure the mob is still around, but notice that most mobs had to switch to LEGIT business's to survive. And crimes that relate to money will always be around as long as we've people who don't have any or feel they need more. Investing money is legal, but Ponzi schemes still exist and they are illegal. Crimes not always just poor drug addicts. Guns aren't illegal, but killing someone with one is. Drinking and driving is illegal, and yet people would still do it whether alcohol was legal or not. Nope crime will always be around. But as with prohibition, you can spend billions of dollars fighting drugs and you'll just be throwing money onto a fire. You'll never put it out that way. Either you enforce a strong enough penalty to keep people from doing it, or you accept it which allows you to set guidelines and control it. Most moonshiners where put out of work once alcohol was legalized. Many switched to the next illegal substance which was marijuana. Make marijuana legal and they'll just switch to the next illegal substance (probably tobacco, lol). But each time you take away their cash crop, they'll have to switch to something new. And some of those who switch will take on legit jobs. (Jul 25, 2009 | post #3)
Tenn. court ends state tax on illegal drugs
Then legalize it and tax it like tobacco and alcohol. Look at California right now. The general attitude has become one of "If we can't get rid of it by spending lots of money fighting drugs, then let's legalize it and make money on it." During prohibition, the government spent money trying to stop alcohol. Now look at how much revenue alcohol brings in. When something is illegal, then the criminal element reaps the profits. When that substance is legalized, then the government reaps the profits. Prostitution isn't likely to ever go away, but if it was a legit business (as it is in some areas), then it can be regulated and taxed. This makes it safer for both the prostitutes and for the customers. Same with alcohol, being regulated makes it safer for the seller and the buyer. Another bonus to legalizing something is you get rid of a huge portion of your criminal elements associated with the item, such as pimps, drug dealers, meth makers, smugglers, etc. Personally, I'd like to see some things that's legal made illegal because I don't personally agree with them, like alcohol. But just because I don't care for it, doesn't mean that I should deny someone else their right to have it. And I'd prefer it be legal so that the criminal element associated with bootlegging isn't around. Plus I know the taxes from it help support of government spending. It's a fact that people are going to do what they want, regardless of what the law may say. People want their vices and it's safer when it's made legally so it can be regulated. Countries that recognize this usually have lower crime rates than countries that are more restrictive. Now if you want to ban everything and enforce it, you can see how that works for Muslim countries. They do have low crime rates, no serious illegal activities, but that's because many of the criminal sentences are death sentences. So unless we are willing to sentence everyone to death for enjoying their vices, we'll never be rid of it. (Jul 25, 2009 | post #1)
I hate when someone says that the illegals are just taking the jobs no one else wants. It's not true. Before the illegals had the job, some legal person had it. The mushroom plant in Loudon was in business for a long time before they started employing illegals. So obviously someone wanted the job and odds are someone lost their job to an illegal. Same with the construction trades. I've known many white guys from this area who have lost work/jobs to illegals. Sure the pay is better here than in Mexico, sure America is a better place, and I don't doubt that they want to be here. But go the legal route. You want citizenship? Join the military. They need people, they have a fast track program for illegals to get their citizenship, so it's one of the best routes for both a steady job, and citizenship. Oh but wait, for many illegals the military is too dangerous or strict for you. Whanna be an American, prove it and serve like many of us Americans have done. (Jul 14, 2009 | post #9)
