Among nation's poorest cities, El Paso ranks a notorious 4th
What people are missing is that the 30K raise is actually a rollback raise as they originally considered 65K, but to save us money, they rolled it back to 30K. lol (Wednesday | post #112)

What are you talking about????They are getting ready to vote themselves another 30K each. Being 4th from the bottom means ELP has improved in the standing. (Wednesday | post #91)

Airline baggage fees hit soldier flying out of El Paso for trai...
You are not busting my bubble, just completed a travel overseas and all I needed was 2 bags for all of my military gear. Other issue was shipped by Army (like they should), but on the same note, my orders clearly stated "excess baggage authorized". Soldier failed himself and his unit didn't help matters by not making the statement standard SOP. Since when does the National Guard issue deploying gear to a Soldier before they get to demarc location? (Sunday Aug 3 | post #86)

Thats just it, airlines have always charged for more than 2 check-in bags. In all the years I've flown for the military, I've been aware of the 2 bag limit. In reading the article the Soldier was aware of the 2 bag limit, but was still pushing the envolope and getting away with it. The charge should have been expected and appreciated when it wasn't charged (as it has been in the past). (Thursday Jul 31 | post #70)

If the Soldier and or his unit had done their job, they would have put "extra/excess " baggage authorized. This would have kept the Soldier from having to pay any fees. It sounds to me like a Soldier trying to get over with claiming that his/her third bag was military gear. When traveling on orders military baggage is first then personal baggage. Children's hospital to bump up taxes
How come they didn't announce the profit Thomason made last year? Is it only me or is anyone else getting less of an exemption from all taxing entities? (Jul 23, 2008 | post #3)

1st quarter of '08 brings dip in EP foreclosures
As of today, there are 312 properties on the foclosure auction taking place on the 5th of Aug. This is the lowest number that I can remember seeing in a long time. If this was the average it would be 3744 home going into forclosure this year. Granted some of these propertiers will be removed due to new agreements with lenders, but what about those homes sold at a loss to simply pay off the mortgage on a short sale?
