Better communications by police could have reduced gun-sales di...

Those Quakers of Pa were so nice huh? Problem is, the state was full of non Quakers as well. Here's a list of executions by state. Between 1780 and 1800 Pennsylvania put to death 92 people. Only 36 of which were charged with murder or robbery murder. That's only about 40%. 21 for Burglary. About a dozen for robbery, another couple for sodomy, some for rape, some for arson, some counterfeiting, and the rest for espionage or treason. But only 40% for murder. It's all there pal. All you have to do is read. You've been proven wrong again liar. Pennsylvania 1780 starts on page 277 of the PDF http://www.deathpe naltyinfo.org/ESPY state.pdf  (3 hrs ago | post #18474)

Oh, but I said the time of our founders. Not the 17th century. http://www.deathpe naltyinfo.org/ESPY year.pdf According to this PDF file, there were over 530 hangings between 1780 and 1800, less than 50% were for the crime of murder. Burglary, slave revolt, robbery, and forgery make up over 50% of all crimes that people were hung for during this 'time of enlightenment ". So much for your "facts". Now go find that post liar. Proving you wrong every time.  (3 hrs ago | post #18473)

Poll: 51% Say Fort Hood Could Have Been Prevented

I'm not a liberal, I'm a libertarian. I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Cronies? Bush was the king of cronyism. What about our security is in jeopardy? I think Obama is too much like Bush when it comes to dealing with military leaders. But since you seem to think to know so much. What idiotic and/or egotistic decision is jeopardizing our security and well being?  (6 hrs ago | post #44)

I didn't change the subject. The thing is, you cannot provide evidence or statistics that prove your point. So I pointed out that every single felony at the time of the founders was punishable by death. Unless you can actually use statistics your point has no merit. The fact of the matter is, felonies were punishable by death, not some felonies, but all felonies. A lot of people were put to death. Jails were not that large. So where did they house all these incarcerated felons?  (7 hrs ago | post #18458)

Really? Provide statistics from that time period. You said that Pennsylvania was so very lenient. FACT: Pennsylvania ranks 3rd in total executions between 1608 and 1976. With Virginia and New York ahead of PA. http://www.deathpe naltyinfo.org/exec utions-united-stat es-1608-1976-state Check out page 25 on this PDF http://www.deathpe naltyinfo.org/exec utions-united-stat es-1608-1976-state 38 executed. Only 10 of which were convicted of murder. 10 for burglary, 3 for counterfeiting, 2 for horse stealing, 1 for theft, 1 for arson, 2 for rape, 2 for sodomy-buggery-bes tiality, 3 for slave revolt, 2 for desertion, 1 for 'unknown' and 1 for unspecified felony. On this page Pennsylvania had put to death 3 for burglary, 4 for murder, and 3 for counterfeiting. This is just a few from 1774 and 1775. This PDF is pretty interesting. It lists every documented US execution by date, and includes the name of the criminal and the crime committed. Sorry, but Murder in the 1700's seemed to make up a small percentage of the crimes for which people were hanged and shot. Definitely less than 50% of those executed in the 1700's committed murder.  (8 hrs ago | post #18454)

During the founding period, several crimes were punishable by death in the 13 states: murder, treason, piracy, arson, rape, robbery, burglary, sodomy, counterfeiting, horse theft, and slave rebellion."  (Yesterday | post #18434)

Yes the Constitution and Bill of Rights were designed, in part, to protect the rights of those accused of crimes. We guaranteed them fair trials, left them free from unreasonable search and seizures, granted them the right to be from self incrimination, kept them free from double jeopardy, and free from cruel and unusual punishment. Nothing has changed. Find that post yet liar?  (Yesterday | post #18428)

Sorry liar. Robbery, treason, and piracy were also mentioned. Name one felony in our founding time that wasn't punished by death. Let's see. Arson was, rape was, SODOMY was (not a felony now), burglary (not always a felony now), horse theft (not sure if it's a felony now), murder. All listed in my link authored by scholars to have been punishable by death. Do you just glaze over the posts that prove you wrong and ignore the points that prove you wrong? Or just intentionally lying.  (Yesterday | post #18417)

If you're talking about illegals, they don't come unless someone employs them. If you're talking about Puerto Ricans, they're already citizens, so there's not a lot you can do about it.  (Yesterday | post #31)
