Hampton looks for more math teachers

I think that those that have solid math backgrounds likely have BS degrees and know their knowledge is more valuable apart from teaching. The pay that teachers receive is appalling. Hampton budgets $9500/student. That equates to $285,000/classroom and yet the teacher is paid chump change. Sad. Increase the pay, draw in the teachers. Fire the dumb $h!tz too.  (Friday | post #2)

Apparently you are not "a student (either directly or indirectly) of the notable thermodynamicists. " Because you just ignorantly said: "The laws of thermodynamics explain what happens when the amount of energy in the box changes. If the amount of energy decreases or increases the temperature will tend to change similarly." I guess you don't understand the law of the conservation of energy?  (Monday Aug 11 | post #49336)

And cooler in Death Valley! Death Valley, Calif., which is known for being the world’s hottest location, maxed out at a relatively chilly 89 degrees on Sunday. This temperature – nearly 30 degrees below average – was its coolest high temperature on record for the date by a whopping 15 degrees. The previous record of 104 was set in 1945. http://www.washing tonpost.com/blogs/ capital-weather-ga ng/wp/2014/08/04/d eath-valley-was-co oler-than-missoula -mont-on-sunday/  (Friday Aug 8 | post #7)

Ooooppppsssss! More FACTS for ya: All-Time Record Low July Temperatures Many all-time record low temperature records for the month of July were broken. On Wednesday morning Joplin, Missouri tied its all-time July record low of 50 degrees. The state of Oklahoma recorded its coolest July day on Thursday with an average temperature of 63.6 degrees. The previous record was 66.3 degrees set on July 12, 1953. The average temperature is found by adding up all the high and low temperatures across the state, then dividing the total by two and then dividing by the number of reporting stations. On Friday, all-time record coolest high temperatures for the month of July were set across much of the South. A few of the cities that set records are Memphis, Tennessee; Greenwood, Mississippi; and Longview, Texas. via: http://www.weather .com/news/weather- forecast/polar-inv asion-july-record- cold-temperatures- 20140716  (Friday Aug 8 | post #5)

PROVE what you say!!!! You CANNOT. Refresher for the liberal artist crowd (you spaceballs) 1-Zeroth law of thermodynamics: If two systems are in thermal equilibrium with a third system, they must be in thermal equilibrium with each other. This law helps define the notion of temperature. (Yet you claim this mysterious 3rd system that makes the other two increase which leads to the 1st law:) 2-First law of thermodynamics: Heat is a form of energy. Because energy is conserved, the internal energy of a system changes as heat flows in or out of it. Equivalently, perpetual motion machines of the first kind are impossible. (Thus proving AGW is NOT possible!)Why? Because Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms. In any process, the total energy of the system remains the same. For a thermodynamic cycle the net heat supplied to the system equals the net work done by the system. 3-Second law of thermodynamics: The entropy of any isolated system never decreases. Such systems spontaneously evolve towards thermodynamic equilibrium — the state of maximum entropy of the system. Equivalently, perpetual motion machines of the second kind are impossible. (Did you catch the equilibrium part?) 4-Third law of thermodynamics: The entropy of a system approaches a constant value as the temperature approaches absolute zero.[2] With the exception of glasses the entropy of a system at absolute zero is typically close to zero, and is equal to the log of the multiplicity of the quantum ground state. (Not applicable in our case) Stick to grammar and keep physics to the adults.  (Friday Aug 8 | post #49294)
