Congrats to Jimmie and his team. Although I am a Tony fan, I can appreciate when a good driver wins something important like the championship. I agree with Old Timer on what needs to be done. While I enjoy the races, I thought this last race was so boring, I didn't even watch the end of it. I would like to see more of the Hollywood Hotel and the guys who do their thing around it. I get the biggest kick out of Darryl Waltrip when he yells, "Boogity, boogity, boogity" and "Let's go racin'". (4 hrs ago | post #10)
When I was a child/teenager, I would never have thought of hitting my mother. My sister or brothers was a different story. But we didn't fight, really, while we were kids. Had I ever hit my mother, my dad would have beat me till I couldn't sit for a month. Hitting my mother was his job. (Yesterday | post #3)
Makes me sad to be a Pennsylvanian. (Yesterday | post #9376)
Good Monday morning everyone. Kind of cool this morning. Well I guess my age has caught up to me. I don't sleep past 7:00 and if I stay in bed trying, I hurt real bad. Guess I have to finally admit, it is time to slow down. (Monday | post #9355)
Not sure what is causing the shocks. I know they hurt sometimes. Someone said it is the flooring, someone else said the store is grounded right, and then there is blaming the weather or atmosphere or whatever. I get the shocks too. Had a guy one time put his card near the card reader, he got quite the jolt and my screen went blank. It came right back up, but I was totally surprised. Never happened since then. I signed a petition recently (might have got the link through Topix) to save the crafts department. They got 42 signatures and the person who started the petition called corporate. Actually got to talk to someone who knew what they were talking about. Crafts departments in ALL Walmarts are being closed, except those that fought to keep theirs. Sadly, they will be left with the smaller selection we have now. So the trips to El Paso or Las Cruces are gonna be necessary if you want the good craft supplies. Sorry. I really tried. Good morning all. Got a Sunday off so it is a good time to be very lazy. My kids will be here in 7 days, but who's counting. (Sunday Nov 22 | post #9340)
First Lady A, sorry for your loss. A year goes by and you don't even realize it, but the pain doesn't go that quickly. Your memories of your father will be something you can hang on to forever. A nice thing to do for the younger people in your family would be to get everyone to write down stories of the way they remember certain things of life with your father and the assemble a scrap book of these memories. And I didn't ask for you by Ladyastronomer. But hey, I can be dense, I may not havae had what I thought was the right name. (Saturday Nov 21 | post #9326)
At Sunspot, we went into one building by mistake and I asked about you, but the man didn't know who you were. I meant to let you know we'd be there. And at Apache, we just used a pinic table to eat our lunch and enjoy the view. The museum at the first stop was nice. (Friday Nov 20 | post #9324)
Oh before I forget again. On Tuesday I finally made it to Sunspot and went to the museum. Didn't get to look through the telescopes, my friend, that I went with, and I are both diabetic and we both needed to eat, so we went to Apache Observatory to look at the view while we ate. Then we went to Cloudcroft and through some of the shops there. Stopped at the Old Apple Barn on the way down the mountain. Got some of the yummy fudge made with fruit juice rather than sugar. Barb, happy birthday. It is also my anniversary. Hubby got me a new vacuum. He can't top the house he got me last year. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #9274)
Been to Sea World, but not to Cedar Point. My oldest grandson lived in Vermilion (sp) and he of course went to Cedar Point. I would love to go ride some of the roller coasters. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #9253)

Oh ok. Does anyone know when ADN changes the obituary page? Since my friend Elaine died, I have been looking for her obit and the page has been the same for almost a week. Back home, they either list new obits or they post that none has been received. (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #9188)
