Costco is meant to cater to economical buyers as well as BUSINESSES. It takes money to make money, and a penny saved is a penny earned. The moral behind Costco is different than that of WalMart. The profit margin of Costco is way below that of WalMart, the fair pricing follows true wholesale value along with using the 80/20 merch sales rule. At Walmart you could save $100 on a computer there but, what people don't realize is that they're probably paying about 50 cents extra for a jar of mayo, more people by mayo more frequently than they buy a computer. So you'll get suckered into paying more for things you need, so you can save a few bucks on something you WANT. Costco uses true wholesale values on all their products. Some things may not seem like much of a deal but, guess what? That gallon of milk you've been thinking about hasn't been marked up a single cent. You just gotta weigh the pros and cons of each company, it all works out in a balance though. (Dec 9, 2008 | post #7)
There has been a recent job posting for Skilled Maintenance at my warehouse and I've got a couple of questions for any other employees out there based on their experience. I just sent in a resume today for the posting, in high hopes of getting the position because of the one other person that applied for it but, then I heard of another employee sending one in as well, one who stands a chance. The work history requires knowledge in mechanics as well electrical, HVAC, repairing/replacing fixtures as well as the structure of the warehouse. This guy has one year of experience on me at the store but, has no construction experience of the matter (although he does work in the tire shop, who just lost a full timer). I on the other hand, was in maintenance for 6 months, have a work history with residential contracting, industrial contracting, as well as landscaping, not to mention by already being in basic maintenance. Will he get the signing simply by being at costco for a year longer than me, or do I stand a chance? =\ The closing date for the opening is 12/15 so if I can get any responses by then, that'd be great! Thanks a bunch guys. (Dec 9, 2008 | post #1)
