I agree. How can I help? This has not been a ranking item on my list of priorities, as I am straight, but I am willing to work towards equality of all citizens. Let me know. (4 hrs ago | post #370)

I ran it by the captions on my copy of Disney's "Mary Poppins." I am correct. Check something besides a dictionary in a Topix forum. The darn thing highlights "Topix" in red. (5 hrs ago | post #175596)

Post #366 should read "not all states recognize 'civil union' between same sex couples." Oklahoma still has sodomy laws on the books, which are still enforced regularly. Here, the very acts which constitute homosexuality are illegal. I'm not saying this is a good thing; I have homosexual siblings, and I love them just as I love those siblings of mine which are straight. I'm just saying the state I live in is very puritanical and judgmental. Fact of life here. (5 hrs ago | post #368)

A) I'm totally cool with that idea, and B) My own parents (mom Judy, dad Marvin) were united at the county courthouse, by the Cuyahoga County (OH) Justice of the Peace. Neither one saw the necessity for "marriage in the sight of God." Civil union IS for everyone. (5 hrs ago | post #367)

I heard you. Congratulations on the fortuitousness of your geographical location, and its concomitant legal privileges. What I meant, was that not all states recognize your union as a legal one; mine assuredly does not, and neither does it recognize 'civil union'. It is much more likely that the latter, rather than the former, will be recognized by the end of this century in my stateAgain, good for you and your partner. Federal benefits do not apply to state privileges. Each state decides, individually, what applies in the case of 'marriages' as well. This is called 'state's rights', and is Constitutionally correctWhy? Because it's 'something different'? Face it: homosexuality is a different type of union in and of itself. It requires a 'different' ceremony than 'marriage', simply by virtue of its nature. Marriage is between 'man' and 'wife'. Who is the wife in a non-hetero union? (5 hrs ago | post #366)

Not to mention the paramedic who practices voodoo when not on the clock. What does your karma indicate in this instance, eh? It's worth considering, if you have any life-threatening health concerns, and you think conscience should be protected on the job. (5 hrs ago | post #1664)

Singer, who are you to say how another 'should' interpret the revelation of God, His Word, or His Ways? How is your assertion relevant to the interpretation of these things? Why 'should' we follow your lead? I anticipate your answers to these questions with a healthy dose of skepticism, so please be cogent. (5 hrs ago | post #1663)
