Infant's death shows gaps in care licensing

Having worked in a licensed daycare for over 10 years I will tell you that anything can happen in any daycare center. Having said that I will also say that you should do your research. Just as you will find some bad home care places you will also find some places that have a license that are also not so great. I can tell you some of the differences some of the things the state requires in order for a daycare to get a license. The state requires that licensed daycare employees have a certain amount of training each year which includes first aide and cpr for both adults and children or infants, they require child abuse training, they require a certain number of employees according to the number of children, they require safety inspections on playground equipment, they require the water temp. to be at a certain point, they require employees be trained in food handling. The only thing I have touched on here is the required training. Now does all this training that a licensed daycare employee go through mean that your child will be completely safe in a licensed daycare facility? No. Would it be a good idea if everyone running a daycare facility had cpr and first aide training and was taught safe food handling? Yes So I would like to say there is no right or wrong answer as to who is better qualified in looking after your child. Many people run good homehome care from their homes and there are many good licensed facilities out there but beware because there are also bad licensed daycares and bad homecare also. Check out the daycare you chose for your child, don't come pick them up the same time every day and make sure the day care you choose has an open door policy. If something just does not feel right about a daycare center then do not leave your child there. Better safe than sorry.  (Monday Jul 21 | post #5)

Missouri: Car Ticketed for Running a Yellow Light

I have seen the light flash several times. Of course this was because a man in a truck was pulling forward crossing the line then backing up and doing it again just to trigger the camera. I guess he was having fun playing with the camera. I have also crossed the line and triggered the light before stopping but I have never gotten a ticket because I did stop. I have had no problems at any of the lights and go through the one at Jeffco and 141 often also the one at Vogel and Richardson and the one in front of Rockport. I do go through the one at Astro Way and 141 just not as often.  (Jul 4, 2008 | post #10)

Flooding Shuts Down Parts of St. Louis County

Thanks for your response sbt. Looks as if Vinny has confirmed that the bridge is closed. Glad to hear Pevely as a whole is in good shape.  (Jun 26, 2008 | post #13)

Flooding Shuts Down Parts of St. Louis County

Teri I have two sons who live in Pevely and as far as I know there is no damage or water in the area they live in. Maybe Vinny will check this site out today and let you know what is going on down there as he lives there. I live in Arnold and Lemay Ferry (61/67) and 55 are both open all the way to Pevely. I don't know what direction you will be traveling so thats about all the help I can be.  (Jun 25, 2008 | post #10)

Delete this site

CC The key is to ignore. As long as you didn't have it deleted then don't worry about it and truthfully if you did report it and the people who run this forum found that TOS rules were broken and deleted posts thats the way it goes. Those posting the offending posts are responsible for the posts being deleted not you. You do not owe anyone an explanation. I believe it was stated earlier that some people just cannot seem to stop with the ugly comments to you and the problem is they will continue as long as they know they know you get upset over what they say. I realize it may be hard but try not to respond to the ugly comments. The more you respond the more ugly comments a few are going to make.  (Jun 20, 2008 | post #20)

Delete this site

I have avoided posting here for awhile just to see where things go. LOL the one time I did post a comment I like CC was attacked but unlike CC I did not respond to the attack. I will say the attack at that time did not come from Doris. It is amazing how many here blame CC for taking subjects off track when I have seen it done by others anytime CC decides to post or respond to something. I also notice that every time a thread is deleted or posts are deleted CC gets the blame. Does anyone here know for certain that CC is reporting this and even if she is do you really think they would delete the threads without looking at them first to make sure rules are being broken? Everyone has a right to post here including CC and everyone has a right to post without an attack. This whole thing is very childish.  (Jun 19, 2008 | post #8)

Teen pleads guilty in fire that damaged school

Adam Thanks for telling your side of the story. Hopefully after all is said and done you will still be able to join the Marines and later live your dream of becoming a firefighter. I would not like to see any of you go to jail. I think the punishment should fit the crime and I am certain that you or the others did not mean for the school to catch on fire. I do believe there should be some punishment but once again the punishment should fit the crime. Community service would be a form of punishment I could support.  (Jun 13, 2008 | post #12)

Teen pleads guilty in fire that damaged school

I agree Doris. If all they are going to do is smack their hands and send them home the only lesson the kids learn is we can do it and get by with it.  (Jun 12, 2008 | post #4)

ARNOLD: McCaskill to sponsor foreclosure clinic

I would think this would be good for people who are now struggling to make ends meet and people who are unsure about their employment. While no one wants to go through a foreclosure it would be good if someone could help people who may face this in the future. I think its usually to late to do much once the process of foreclosure has started. I also agree with Doris regarding people buying first homes that are their dream homes instead of buying a smaller one to start and working their way up.  (Jun 11, 2008 | post #4)

Teen pleads guilty in fire that damaged school

It will be interesting to see what will happen to this young man and the others involved. I do not think they intended to start the fire but my problem is that they knew they had and tore down a camera and left the premises without reporting the fire. What if someone were to be trapped in the building? I think these young men should have to pay for this but I don't think going to jail is the answer. They should have to pay for damages and possibly do communtiy service such as volunteer for a fire department or in the burn unit of a hospital so they can see up close and personal what a fire can do. The punishment should fit the crime.  (Jun 11, 2008 | post #2)

Bob Evans and Steak n Shake Non Smoking

I was a little surprised when Ryans posted the smoke free sign. We go there all the time and were never really bothered by the smoke. As you stated however I have never seen many people in the smoking section.  (Jun 10, 2008 | post #13)

Old Hardees bldg

I may be mistaken but I think the old Burger King property now belongs to the school district.  (Jun 9, 2008 | post #5)

Bob Evans and Steak n Shake Non Smoking

As of June 15 there is another place to add to the list of non smoking. Ryans in Festus will also join the ranks of non smoking restraunts. I'm not sure if this is just the Ryans in Festus or if it will be all of them. The Festus Ryans has a sign posted.  (Jun 8, 2008 | post #10)

Old Hardees bldg

According to the Leader Hobby Lobby will try to be open before Christmas. Apparently they are talking to a couple different people who are interested in the old Hardee's but they are not saying who at this time.  (Jun 8, 2008 | post #2)
