Vatican backtracks on pope's abortion comments
I was always under the impression that a woman who obtained an abortion was, as you say, excommunicated. However, I know of a woman (an EX-friend of mine) who had an abortion and her parish priest told her she was not excommunicated. Didn't seem right to me. By the way, this happened in the sixties; I tried to talk this EX-friend out of having the abortion, but she told me "I don't want to hear it." Selfish *itch! (May 20, 2007 | post #7)
Diocese loses sex abuse lawsuit
The priests who committed these atrocities should never be allowed around children again; however, it is certainly not the fault of the church, and we have to bear in mind that MOST of the clergy are devout and sincere people. (May 19, 2007 | post #155)
Salvation only through the Catholic Church
Mary, I sought you out -- I'm back from vacation and several times while I was away I prayed for your intentions (yes, typical catholic saying). I've truly felt sorry about my past harshness towards you and while some of our beliefs may still differ, I mean you no harm. I know you're a good person and that you mean well, and I wish you the best. While on vacation and basking in some of God's more beautiful scenery, it had almost a "retreat " effect on me and I feel renewed in a sense. However, it's always good to get home again :) (May 19, 2007 | post #782)
Don't worry; Catholics are grumbling over Giuliani
liseux, I agree...it's great to see Papalheart back here, such a truly charitable soul. You too :) (May 19, 2007 | post #58)

Excuse me, but "thank God for the catechism"? You need to consult a book written by HUMANS on how you should live your life in every aspect of it? People like you place the catechism above the entire bible. Seems to me you would spend your time better by becoming a southern Baptist minister in the bible belt preaching fire and brimstone to anyone who will listen to you. I think you care more about being "right" than being charitable to others. (May 19, 2007 | post #57)

Hey -- your post is pretty damn cute! I enjoyed it :) (May 19, 2007 | post #56)

I beg to differ with you. At one time eating meat on Fridays WAS a sin, and a mortal one at that. I was taught this by priests in the fifties. (May 19, 2007 | post #55)
LOL!!!!! My goodness, you made a TOPIC out of me? This is hilarious! jfsully, I'm glad you've missed me, but I'm back now. Our vacation was fabulous but it's always good to come back home. Hugs to you :) And liseux -- I had plenty of diet cokes! Also, lot of pina coladas (without the alcohol, I don't drink). Hugs to you also. I've missed being here, but I have resolved to be a BETTER PERSON and (try) to mind my manners. Well...unless I REALLY can't help myself :) I will say I was saddened to hear of the death of Rev. Jerry Falwell, although I wasn't exactly a fan of his. Any death, however, is sad. Nothing like being on a tropical island for 8 days to feel renewed! Everyone was so nice and life was very laid back for those days. The Caribbean is SO gorgeous! Well, back to business...I feel great and I pray you all do, too! (Now let's see what kind of trouble I can get into.) Only kidding -- God bless you all! (May 19, 2007 | post #3)
Salvation only through the Catholic Church
One quick note to all: People are never going to agree on everything regarding religious beliefs. It's always been that way and it always will be. Sad, but true. But still -- we can love each other, can't we? Is it so all-important to be "right"? Even Jesus placed compassion and mercy over "rules". Oh -- listen to me...I don't sound like my usual smart-alecky self...could I be undergoing a religious transformation?? (May 11, 2007 | post #498)

concerned, for what it's worth, I believe pretty much as you do. God bless :) (May 11, 2007 | post #497)
concerned, nothing against the Virgin Mary lovers here, but I too fail to see why the RC church exalts her to such a (in my opinion) sinful degree. She was, as you say, only a human being. I'm sure she was an exceptionally good one, but to the best of my knowledge Jesus never instructed anyone to pay her homage to the degree the RC church does. Even when I was a practicing Catholic, I felt it was a sin to give any other being but God such glory. (May 11, 2007 | post #994)
Although I find most of Paul's beliefs inconsistent with every religion I know, I like him also -- he means well and I'm sure that in person he's a kind and gentle soul. (May 11, 2007 | post #992)
Mary, thanks...that's quite nice of you. I hope sincerely that you and IHS can learn to get along. (May 11, 2007 | post #991)
