So, what does make change in a people or a government? Voting, people sticking together and pushing for what pleases their group, hunger and poverty? Poor countries seem to have the worst leaders. (Look at South Africa) The land must have enough natural resources to provide the basics for human existance, but after that is just politics. The people of remote islands form a group to meet each others needs. What kind of government is this called? The people of Hawaii had that until big money moved in and capitalized from the tourism industry. Now the locals cannot afford to live in their own country and they want it back. Big money and government are not the answer to everything. Who ever lived in the 60's and thought that someday the Wall Street boys could take over the making of a simple hamburger and run all the mom and pop businesses out of small town America. What we have became is somewhat far fetched and sometimes lacks a good dose of reality. So, I give up. You tell me what makes change. (At least for the better.) (Monday Jul 21 | post #16)

I have actually tried to find this information once before. It seems that the records do not indicate "Why" a trucking company goes out of business. The "Why" block is not on the application. It is a natural occurance in a dynamic market for companies to enter and exit the industry. Deregulation has greatly intensified the phenomonon in the transportation sector. When you enter a market totally controlled by the competition and the major players practice cut-throat tactics...well either shame on you are you are not afraid of losing money.
