Can't Attend College If Attended Christian School
You had accused me of being argumentative. I refuted it. I don't care which sect these pastors belong to, although I will admit to looking at Christians as more of a monolithic bloc then they really are. I do appreciate your admittance that atheists or Christians arent perfect. I think what sets so many people off is the belief of many Christians that they are better then Non-Christians. So there's a great deal of satisfaction when they act like regular non-religilous folk. (21 hrs ago | post #1207)

So are you only moral because of your faith? Or could you manage to be moral without it? (21 hrs ago | post #1206)

When you lose that case, will you finally be prepared to accept that these kids were not prepared for real academia? (Saturday Oct 4 | post #1199)

What's to argue about? The facts speak for themselves - a number of good, pious Christians are being caught doing immoral things. Reference Ted Haggard, Joel Osteen's wife, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker or Jesse Jackson if you don't believe me. If I were a pastor or priest, I'd be reminding my flock to walk the walk, 'cuz a number of them forget to. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #1198)
The greatest degree of competence I've seen from him since he took office is when he's on another one of his vacations at the Crawford Compound - usually they show him clearing brush with a pitchfork. He seems to do Ok then. (Thursday Oct 2 | post #3510)

Your application must have been rejected. Oh well, there's always University of Phoenix. (Thursday Oct 2 | post #1179)
7 and 3/4 years of Bush is still better then 8 years, although then you have Dick as President. You would have to go pretty far down the sucession line to get to a tolerable President (Thursday Oct 2 | post #3507)

I think I get it - so if there is a Pro-Choice type of bill, your church would remind you that they don't approve of abortion but would not actually tell you to vote no on the Bill. I'm still not sure why any church would discuss political matters instead of spiritual ones. (Thursday Oct 2 | post #1173)

You are being contradictory here - You say voting is a private matter - and I agree with you. Yet your church encourages you to vote for or against specific bills BUT would never tell you who to vote for. Doesn't sound like they are totally staying out of your business. But the hundreds of thousands of churches who tell you who to vote for, they're OK, right? (Monday Sep 29 | post #1130)
I consider them points scored . . amazing how many still think ol' Dubya is such a good President. Cheney's dangerous inside of 50 yards but I think Sarah would get him well before that. Hopefully she goes for the head shot and not the heart, because he doesnt have one. (Sunday Sep 28 | post #3503)
The point that I'm trying to make is that Bush has been thrust into situations through his life (such as having oil companies handed to him, his "military " service, owner of the Texas Rangers, etc.) and has usually failed in them. What has he EVER been good at, other then having good contacts? It's all moot, as we are finally getting rid of this clown. We just need to avoid electing incompetent people again. (Sunday Sep 28 | post #3501)
Maybe if Bush does the "deer in the headlights look" around Palin, she'll shoot him by mistake. She IS a successful hunter. (Sunday Sep 28 | post #3500)
I don't necessarily agree that she's more like Bush. Bush's life has been marked by incompetency - she at least seems to succeed at more of the things she tries. Not that that makes her a viable candidate. (Saturday Sep 27 | post #3497)
Texas High School Student Told Rosary Is 'Gang Symbol'
No, I think SOME Christians are unprofessional because of personal experience. When I was in the Navy, we had a very religious 1st Class PO in our group who had his little clique of fellow Christians - the rest of us got the sh!t jobs and the Christians got prayer sessions (over coffee in the mess room) 3 times a week. I also have people bypass my "No Soliciting" sign about once a month - they think that because they're "spreading the word" that it's OK to disregard people's wishes, even when those wishes are clearly posted. I'm glad to hear that you leave your religion at home and don't take it to work with you. Good luck to you at work - the gangs in SD can be nasty, it's partly why we left. My brother-in-law is an officer over in El Cajon. (Saturday Sep 27 | post #169)
