Dear Mr. Mazur, What are you afraid of? The world seeing that the US is not afraid? By changing the way we do things in this country, they (the terrorists) win. That's right, a local sales would help here in Bennington. It wouldn't have to be a big tax, a tax of .5% would work. As it stands right now we are dependant on the sate and the feds for everything. I have talked with Stu Hurd and he says he's been trying to get a local sales tax for some time now, but the state will not allow it because we get so much in aid to education.  (5 hrs ago | post #23)

That's all great news. I would like to see the BBC get with the stores in the downtown area and do a survey. K-Mart does it, when you swipe your card you are first asked to enter your zip code. I think this could be some very valuable information.  (5 hrs ago | post #2)

rv I only brought up Lowe's because the article itself talks about a Lowe's going in down there. Like I said, the main reason you people in the I hate WM crowd give for fighting WM is the affect they have on small business. If that is the real reason for your hatred for WM, then where's the fight to keep Lowe's out of there. Are they not going to affect Aubuchon and Greenberg's or like I said, you not care about them. But if you want me to say something about the WM SC going in down there, GOOD. It just means I (like so many others) will not have to go all the way over to Albany for a SC. People are going to go on shopping at WM no matter where it is, I would rather it be here in Bennington so the tax money collected here stays here. And that's another issue, taxes. I will admit there are cops out there that have no business being cops. Just like there are doctor's and nurses who shouldn't be. Not saying either of these men in these two articles faked the seizures, but I'm sure it has been done before by someone trying get out of trouble. That being said, cops are not doctor's and when someone is resisting arrest or charging them and biting them I just do not understand how they are suspected to know there medical condition at the moment.  (17 hrs ago | post #6)

But you did say "I say remember what happened to retail stores in the North Adams and Pittsfield areas when the Berkshire Mall opened? Open this and other big discount retailers and see what happens to whats left! Bye Bye Little Guy!" Funny how the article also mentions the possibility of a Lowe's going in down, but it's only WM some have a problem with. They say a WM SC would hurt local businesses. But no mention of the possible affect on Aubuchon Hardware or H Greenberg & Son Hardware by a new Lowe's.
